Hot air balloon sightseeing
The best way to really appreciate Bagan's scale and panoramic view is to sit in BallonsoverBagan's balloon basket and have a panoramic view.
This wonderful journey is only 45 minutes, and it only runs from June 10 to March of the following year, but it is one of the most respected hot air balloon sightseeing projects in the world. Sometimes the sunrise flight is fully booked for a month or even earlier, but if there are seats left, you can buy tickets at any hotel or inn.
This well-run company is run by a multinational couple from Australia and Myanmar. It employs about 65,438,000 local employees. * * * There are 10 hot air balloons. Normally, each hot air balloon can accommodate at most 10 passengers and 1 pilot.
The journey began with a lovely Chevrolet military vehicle, which was produced before World War II, and some parts were teak. Now, after the repair, it will be used as a connecting vehicle to take you from the hotel to the hot air balloon takeoff point. You can enjoy some coffee and snacks while watching the balloon gradually fill with hot air.
Although there are flights at sunset (depending on the weather), it is better at sunrise.
Because the cold air in the morning allows pilots to control their flight as close to the ground as possible, so as to enjoy temples and temples at a closer distance.
Temple tourism
Although Bagan has experienced the forgetfulness of the world, the plunder of war, the erosion of wind and sand, the ravages of earthquakes and those questionable restoration projects, this plain full of temples still retains unforgettable scenery.
The following scenic spots are graphically marked. Please find the specific location on this map.

The circular line in the ancient city wall is only 1.6 km long.
You can go sightseeing on foot or by bike.
At the core of Bagan Archaeological Area are several important temple sites and city walls, a museum, a rebuilt palace, some restaurants, several shops and a variety of high-end hotels. This is the bend of the Irrawaddy River. It is worth spending some time strolling to the river and watching the water trade coming and going.
Archaeological Museum Fira
The Archaeological Museum (Figure 4) is located in an obscure temple in the style of19th century. It is run by the government and contains many excellent collections of Bagan (reclining Buddha, original Buddha statue, inscriptions and re-created murals). Unexpectedly, there is also an exhibition hall about the modern art of temples. You can't take pictures in the museum. (Admission: adult//kloc-children under 0/0: 5000/ free.

GawdawpalinPahto of Jadpalin Temple
The Temple of the Guardian Palin (Figure 7) is 60 meters high and is one of the most magnificent temples in Bagan. Its name means "a platform for expressing reverence". This temple was built during the reign of Xuehu in Nanabadi and completed during the reign of King Dong Na Mia. It is considered as the most brilliant achievement in Bagan's later period.
Mingmalang temple
Mingmalang Temple (pictured as 1 1) was built in 1 174 during the reign of the snow fox in Nanabadi. Pay attention to the statue of Sint here, which is a kind of half lion and half dragon patron saint, guarding the passage to the platform of this square monastery.
Dabixin pagoda
The 63-meter-high Darby New Pagoda (Figure 25), which means "omniscient", is the tallest temple in Bagan. Built in 1 144, with a white square appearance. There are two floors on the first floor, and each floor has a stepped three-floor platform, with the edge decorated with minarets, leading to the 63-meter-high minarets on the top of the gold. Its huge scale and momentum make it the most classic architectural representative in the middle period of Bagan.
Ruiguji
Ruiguji (as shown in figure 19) is located 20 1 m north of Darby New Pagoda, which is small but elegant. This temple can be traced back to the temple of 1 13 1, with a lotus-shaped Hijuro structure at the top and a gypsum sculpture inside. It is a model of Bagan temple architecture in the middle period, reflecting that the architectural style is changing from dark isolation to bright ventilation.
Salaba Gate
Be sure to stop at the east entrance of the ruins of Salaba Gate Palace. This city gate (Figure 24) is the best preserved relic of the 9th century city wall, and it is also the only city wall that still stands today. Traces of the original gypsum material can still be found here. There is a niche on each side of the arched gate, which is not a Buddha statue, but a god who guards the gate deeply worshipped by the local people for a long time.
Pugan Temple is the best in the plain area.
Anansi
The most well-preserved and respected temples in Bagan area.
About 448 meters east of Darby New Pagoda, Anan Temple (Figure 1) has a golden top of Shiro and a gilded spire, which is probably the most attractive place in Bagan.
Built in 1 105, this temple has four giant teak Buddha statues facing four entrances. On the day of the full moon in Biazhuo, the three-day stupa festival will attract countless pilgrims to worship.
DhammayangyiPahto, Damayangji Temple
Absolute Big Mac, you can see this red brick temple from all over Bagan.
This great temple (Figure 2) built in the12nd century can be seen everywhere in Bagan, about 503 meters east of Ruituo Mountain Pagoda. It is notorious for its mysterious masonry passage and cruel history. The magnificent Damayangji Temple has two surrounding corridors, one of which is deliberately filled.
Sulamani temple
Known as the "jewel in the crown", it really deserves it.
Built in 1 18 1, this Wumen Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in this area, known as the "jewel in the crown", with lush courtyards and gypsum carvings.
It is the main example of a more elaborate and complicated temple style in the later period, with better internal lighting. The combination of the early horizontal plane and the middle vertical line created the pyramid effect on the backward sloping terrace.
Patada pagoda
The ideal place to watch the sunrise or sunset is usually not crowded.
At sunset, don't miss seeing the scenery on the open platform of Patadastupa (photo 18) about 800 meters southeast of Tabu Moctar.
Practical Tips: How to visit temples correctly?
1. I plan to visit the temple every morning or around dusk, because the temperature is more comfortable and the light is more suitable for taking pictures.
All foreign tourists who go to Bagan Archaeological Area need to pay an entrance fee of 20 dollars. If you arrive by boat or plane, the wharf or airport by the river will charge this fee; If you come by coach, there will be a toll booth when you enter town. This ticket is valid for 5 days.
Wear slippers, so it will be easier to take off your shoes in every temple.
You need to wear a hat when cycling between temples, but remember to take off your hat when entering temples.
In view of the conservative area in Bagan and the religious activities in temples, women should wear clothes that cover their elbows and knees.
6. Drink plenty of water. Bagan is one of the hottest places in China, which is easy to cause dehydration.
7. If you want to visit Bagan area quickly, you can have lunch in the old Bagan area and leave more time for temple visits.
Town scenery
Wuliangni Anggu
Wuliang is a vibrant riverside town, which is an ideal place for most self-help travelers to rest. Strolling on the quiet path leading to the pier, or resting in a noisy teahouse, or visiting the vibrant local vegetable market are all infinite fun here.
Even travelers living in Bagan, old or new, will always come here at some time, or experience the atmosphere of the restaurant here, or transfer to other places around Myanmar.
ShwezigonPaya, Ruixi Palace Pagoda.
Built in 1 102, its gold-plated bell-shaped stupa is regarded by many as the prototype of many Burmese stupas. The yellow courtyard in the east is called "37" in English.
Nats "(37 gods) has a statue of primitive worship.
Minkaba Minkaba
Mingkaba is located about 800 meters south of Laobagan, where there are many family-owned paint workshops handed down from generation to generation. Lacquer lovers will be happy to stop at Bagan's most famous shopping district. There are only a few temples and pagodas in the early Bagan era nearby, and there are at least a dozen workshops and shops around.
Bagan Zhou Bianyou
Popa, mt
Mount Popa is like Mount Olympus in Myanmar. It is the home of the gods and the home of the awesome "37 gods" in Myanmar. Therefore, it has become the best place for people to worship gods during the pre-Buddhism and animism worship period, and it is also convenient to take a day trip from Bagan.
This is a pagoda-shaped volcanic neck Peak, 737 meters high, with a gilded Buddhist temple on the top. It takes 777 steps to reach this temple. During the 20-minute climb, you will meet devout pilgrims and naughty monkeys, and occasionally there are quiet monks walking slowly.
Seen from the temple, the vast Mingyang Plain extends to endless places.
Tips: In peak season (165438+ 10 to March of the following year), the pickup truck leaves Wuliang coach station at 8:30 and returns at 13:00. A more convenient way is to carpool and take a taxi, which allows drivers to point out the remains of petrochemical forests along the way and stop at the wine palm plantation to taste homemade wine and palm candy.
Take a boat trip to Irrawaddy River.
In Bagan, you don't have to go to the top of the temple to watch the sunset. You can also choose to go to the Irrawaddy River at dusk and take a cruise. It is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience to take a boat down the river and pass by friendly villagers.
You can choose to start in Ba Maw, where there is a lively daily market that attracts Lisu, Kachin and Shan people from the surrounding villages.
The flight from Ba Maw to Ruigu is short, but the beauty of the scenery is a small climax. The Irrawaddy River passes through a wooded valley here, and there are cliffs on both sides.
The next big stop is the quiet town of Jiesha, where the writer George Orwell (representative works Animal Farm and 1984) is stationed at 1926~ 1927, and it is also the background of his work "Myanmar Years". Several buildings described in the book are still standing, but they are not open to the public.
Tips: IWT tickets can only be purchased before sailing 1 hour, and can be purchased opposite the main pier. The day before departure, you can buy a ticket for the express boat from Jiesha to Mandalay in the riverside office.
