Under the current military stalemate between Russia and Ukraine, the United States and Europe have no good words for Russia, but hope to make Russia bow through economic sanctions. At present, the sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe on Russia have escalated again, announcing the cancellation of Russia's most-favored-nation treatment, while raising tariffs on China's export products, and accordingly prohibiting the import of seafood, alcohol, diamonds and other products from Russia.
1. What is MFN treatment?
Many small partners may know something about MFN treatment. In fact, MFN treatment is a system and title in international economic and trade relations. Most-favored-nation treatment means that two or more parties of a contracting state with this treatment can give preferential policies and some privileges and immunities no less than now or in the future in the process of national development, in international exchanges such as economy, trade, maritime tariffs and citizens' legal status, which is a powerful embodiment of inter-state diplomacy.
Second, the abolition of MFN treatment is very unfavorable to the current situation.
At present, the United States has announced the cancellation of MFN status for Russia, hoping to suppress Russia through trade and economic sanctions and demanding that Russia bow its head and admit defeat. However, this has no positive significance for the current situation and will only anger Russia's military strike. Temporary economic sanctions will not bring much harm to Russia, and Russian local daily necessities and basic daily necessities can be completely self-sufficient. The cancelled tariffs and goods prohibited from import and export belong to luxury goods, which have no harm to Russia itself, but are harmful to Russia and Ukraine at present.
3. What is my personal opinion?
I think that at present, Russia and Ukraine are at war. The United States and a series of European countries should join in mediation to ease the atmosphere between the two sides. They don't want to ask Russia to bow its head and admit defeat through some economic sanctions or some sanctions. This is not conducive to war between the two sides, and even has the meaning of fanning the flames. Sometimes, some actions of the United States and some European countries make me feel that the United States and some European countries do not want to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine, and even hope that the war will expand further.
