Excuse me, what does the Taoist nun mean by "infinite longevity Buddha"?
"Infinite Buddha" cannot be simplified as "Infinite Buddha"

Lonely mountain man

I have been in Xuanmen for more than twenty years. I remember that in the early years, the world sometimes asked, "Buddhists use' Amitabha' as their spoken language. What do you Taoists say? " A: "The mantra is a unified model of non-religion, and there is no need to teach everything." At that time, I really didn't hear the mysterious language like "Amitabha". Old practitioners often respond with "compassion" or "your old compassion" when interacting with others.

In the early 1990 s, I traveled to the northeast and often traveled between temples in Kanto. At that time, there were occasionally naughty little Taoist friends poking fun at the "Infinite Buddha", but if they were heard by the old mage, they always stopped it with democracy or exhortation. Because of my freshness, I once asked my Taoist friend what the "boundless Buddha" was. It turned out to be an anecdote.

In the early 1980s, radio stations often broadcast traditional stories told by a famous storyteller. When Taoist figures appeared in the book, they were all titled as "Infinite-Buddha". Later, at a meeting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the storyteller and the Qian Shan Five Immortals Museum were probably a group, so the master suggested to the artist: Taoism is not called Buddha, so "Infinite Buddha" should not be used in Taoist families. For the sake of storytelling, the artist begged the master to explain a four-word phrase similar to "Amitabha". The master was helpless, but thought that his storytelling was the art of the world and had nothing to do with the Xuanmen, so he told him that "Taoism respects God and is called Buddha". Storytellers follow this analogy, so the "Infinite Buddha" came into being.

After the mid-1990s, Master Xu and the prestigious elders in Northeast China went home one after another. At the same time, many concepts in society are also rapidly updated. Under the influence of this "macro-climate", the thoughts and ways of thinking of Taoists began to change from the original ruthlessness to the pursuit of westernization, and the acceptance of new things was much faster. Therefore, the humorous expression of "Infinite Buddha" is gradually legalized from the initial "naughty words". I remember eight years ago, in a large-scale religious activity in a Taoist temple in Northeast China, I first heard that the "Infinite Buddha" appeared in Xuanmen Shi Yu's speech. I was really shocked! Of course, the trend is hard to reverse. Later, "Infinite Buddha" quickly appeared in the communication between most Taoist friends in Northeast China, especially between Taoism and customs. Even Taoist friends in the temple, while helping pilgrims, have long said that "infinity-heaven-respect" has become a rule, just like the situation in film and television novels written by the world. At the same time, Taoist friends in Kanto kept going south, so they brought the "Infinite Buddha" to the north and south of the river. ...

Last winter, two southern Taoist friends contacted me by text messages, always starting with "Infinite Buddha" to show their piety. After feeling, I used a special page as a subject. The general contents are now restated as follows:

Buddhists have the titles of "Amitabha Buddha" and "Infinite Life Buddha". "Amitabha Buddha" is a taboo of Buddha, and "Buddha" is a title. "Infinite life" means infinite life, and it is called "infinite life Buddha" in the name of Buddha. It can be said that this Buddha is the embodiment of life. It all makes sense. But the "boundless Buddha" is not. Taoism has such titles as "Infinite Respect for Man", "Infinite Respect for Life" and "Infinite Respect for Merit", all of which are complete titles of Buddha. But if we omit "measuring people", "longevity" and "merit" and only keep "boundless", that is to say, simplify the original title to "boundless Buddha", is that still the original intention? Obviously, if you look for meaning according to the text, "boundless Buddha" should be interpreted as "boundless Buddha" or "multi-Buddha". That's more like it? Is there such an abbreviation? In fact, it is not difficult for the speaker to understand that "infinity" is the concept of quantity, so how can it be called Buddha?

Now let's get back to the point. As Shan Ye's husband, I am ignorant. I have never looked up the scriptures, and I don't know if I can find a place called "Infinite" in the whole collection. But I did personally experience the whole process of "Infinite Buddha" from scratch in Xuanmen.

The predecessors said: "Fallacies are common and well-founded; Fallacy is universal and regular. " History is developing, society is changing, and the outside world is splendid. Therefore, it is quite natural that some people in the ancient wall are no longer willing to "strictly examine internal affairs and indifferent to diplomacy". However, everything must be reasonable and the foreign minister must be moderate. It's ridiculous to stick gold foil on potatoes, but it's not unreasonable to put powder on jewelry!
