Nanyang, known as Wan in ancient times, is located in the southwest of Henan Province and at the junction of Henan, Hubei and Shaanxi provinces. It is a basin surrounded by mountains on three sides and opening in the south. It is named because it is located south of Funiu Mountain and north of Han River. The city currently governs 2 districts, 10 counties, and 1 county-level city. With a total area of ??26,600 square kilometers and a total population of 10,854,800, including an urban population of 3,314,400, it is the largest and most populous among the 18 provincial municipalities in Henan Province. Since the reform and opening up, Nanyang's national economy has continued to develop rapidly, and its economic aggregate ranks among the top in Henan Province.
