2. Select cuttings. Annual branches with vigorous growth and rich tissues are usually selected, and pruning branches can also be selected as the cutting source. At this time, it should be noted that branches must be free of pests and diseases, and the middle and lower parts of the same branch are the best. The standard to distinguish the quality of branches is that the epidermis is gray, slightly wrinkled with chicken skin (hemp color) and has a certain degree of sturdiness. Such branches are rich and conducive to survival.
3. Cut the cuttings. First, remove the leaves and cut the cuttings according to the length of 10cm- 15cm. Cuttings at both ends of cuttings should be about 1cm away from axillary buds, and the top of cuttings should be cut into a smooth slope of about 45 to prevent water from rotting. The lower end should be cut flat, so that the upper and lower parts can be identified when cutting, so as not to be inserted backwards. The upper and lower ends are about 65438±0cm away from the axillary bud. The upper end needs to prevent dehydration and dryness, and the lower end needs to promote early healing and rooting.
4. Cutting method. First of all, prepare the culture soil with loose soil and good drainage (I usually choose river sand and peat to prevent cuttings from rotting due to fertile soil), put it in a pot and drench it thoroughly with a watering can until water seeps out of the hole. When cutting, first insert a small hole in the pot with bamboo chopsticks, the depth is 2/3 of the cutting, and then insert the cutting into the hole, leaving a knot on it (close to the soil surface). In order to avoid exposing the soil surface after watering, insert it until a pair of leaves on the cutting stick to the soil. Immediately after cutting, water is poured to make the cuttings closely combine with the soil.
5. Post-cutting management. Water management is the key to cultivate jasmine, so water regularly to keep the soil moist. In order to promote the early germination of cuttings, simple plastic mulch can be set and heated to accelerate germination. At the temperature of 30℃, cuttings can take root and germinate after more than one month. After that, just pay attention to the correct water and fertilizer management. When viewing the balcony, it should be placed in a sunny place facing south, otherwise it will lead to excessive growth, resulting in fewer leaves and fewer flowers. Jasmine has strong germination ability, so it should be pruned and reshaped frequently after spring and in June-July.
