First, sine wave can be amplified by multi-stage inverter to get ideal square wave. In the circuit shown in the figure, it is an example of shaping a sine wave into a square wave.

The sine wave to be shaped is input from 1 pin of six inverters, amplified by four inverters, and should become an ideal symmetrical square wave, and then output at pin 8. If the zero-crossing waveform of sine wave is still not ideal, the number of inverters can be increased until it is satisfactory.
