In the fifty-fourth year of Qianlong's reign (1789), he became a Jinshi, served as governor of Huguang, Guangdong and Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou, and moved to Tirenge to become a bachelor. After his death, he was given the posthumous title Wenda. In his life, he was famous for his research on classics and textual research, and he had many compilations.
