There are 58 beds in the department, 3 in SICU and 2 in the grade ward. Our department can not only diagnose and treat various common and frequently-occurring diseases in general surgery, but also comprehensively treat tumor diseases according to the national tumor diagnosis and treatment standards, such as benign and malignant thyroid tumors, breast cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, periampullary cancer, colorectal cancer and other common tumors. The total number of operations per year is nearly 1800 cases, including 400 cases of biliary tract surgery and more than 400 cases of various benign and malignant tumors.

Features include: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, tension-free hernioplasty, choledochoscope, extended radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer, total gastrectomy with small intestine instead of stomach, radical thyroidectomy, radical resection for rectal cancer with pelvic autonomic nerve preservation, radical resection for ultra-low rectal cancer and radical resection for the second half of rectal cancer. Our department has a perfect ability to rescue major events, and many critical cases successfully rescued have been unanimously recognized and praised by the municipal party Committee, the new district government and other departments. The department has strong scientific research ability, and five bureau-level scientific research projects have been completed or are being studied in the past four years. At present, the key project undertaken is "Research on Prediction of Pregnancy-induced Hypertension Syndrome" (in cooperation with Renji Hospital). Since June, 2005, we have jointly undertaken the major project of Shanghai Health Bureau "Establishment and Promotion of Effective Screening Project for Women's Cervical Cancer in Shanghai" with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Fudan University and Shanghai First People's Hospital. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital is mainly responsible for "the study of cervical cancer screening and early intervention for 654.38 million women in Shanghai".

Gynecology has formed three characteristics: gynecological tumor, minimally invasive endoscopic diagnosis and treatment, and urinary incontinence. Laparoscopic surgery has accounted for 1/2 of gynecological surgery. Gynecological minimally invasive surgery technology has been at the forefront of new district hospitals, and laparoscopic surgery has been used for total hysterectomy (LAVH and CISH), hysteromyoma removal, ovarian cyst removal, ectopic pregnancy treatment, combined hysteroscopy and laparoscopy to treat infertility and unexplained pelvic pain. Successful colposcopy, hysteroscopy and LEEP knife surgery are equipped with equipment and technology for screening early cervical cancer (liquid-based thin-layer cytology detection technology) and detection of cervical cancer-related virus-human papillomavirus. Especially for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical diseases with high incidence in women's general surveys over the years, the department has accumulated rich experience. Based on the characteristics of ear microsurgery, ear neurosurgery and head and neck tumor surgery, the diagnosis and treatment characteristics of minimally invasive sinus surgery, snoring and allergic rhinitis have been further formed. In recent years, with the introduction of new technology, new equipment and new talents, it has formed new bright spots in the fields of minimally invasive treatment under electronic nasopharyngeal laryngoscope, laser surgery in otolaryngology (especially laser treatment of early laryngeal cancer) and vocal cord reconstruction after laryngeal cancer surgery (Groningen pronunciation button implantation). In 2006, otolaryngology laser studio was established. There are 45 beds, 1 chief physician, 2 deputy chief physicians, 5 attending physicians and 4 residents. Diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis (severe hepatitis, liver cirrhosis), epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, typhoid fever, measles, bacillary dysentery, mumps, Japanese encephalitis and other infectious diseases.

Infectious diseases department can detect various hepatitis indicators (hepatitis A, B, C, E and G pathogens, HBVDNA and HCVRNA) and variations of hepatitis B and C (pre-S region variation, pre-C region variation and YMDD variation caused by hepcidin). It can non-invasively detect the degree of liver cirrhosis and liver fibrosis. Serological examination can diagnose and treat various liver diseases (alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver, drug-induced liver disease and liver injury caused by various other reasons).
