The Imperial Palace in Shenyang was the imperial palace before the rulers of the Qing Dynasty entered the Central Plains, with the Chongzheng Hall as the main body, starting from Qingmen in the south and reaching Qingning Palace in the north, as well as Guanju Palace, Linzhi Palace, Yanqing Palace and Yongfu Palace. There are Daqingmen, Chongzheng Hall, Longfei Pavilion and Xiangfeng Pavilion in the front yard. In the Intermediate People's Court, there are Shishanzhai, Xiezhongzhai and Fenghuang Building. The backyard is a five-palace building dominated by Qingning Palace.

Qingning Palace is a five-bay, hard-mountain style with corridors in front and back. It is the "middle palace" where Emperor Taizong and Empress Bolzigit lived in the Qing Dynasty.
