Nucleation: a method of removing the terminal bud of a branch or cutting off the top of a branch to promote the germination of its lateral branches.

Specifically, generally, 2 ~ 3 lateral buds near the top of branches are easy to germinate. When the lateral branches grow out, the tree is cup-shaped or Y-shaped, so the coring height is very important, and it is appropriate to approach the diameter of the flowerpot.

Truncation: a method of cutting off 1/3 or 1/2 from the upper part of the main branch to promote the germination of the lateral branches of the main branch. Because of the large amount of 1 pruning, this method is easy to cut off more branches and leaves in the early stage and has poor ornamental value, but it is very beneficial to the later modeling.

Bud carving: a method of carving the exposed part of the main branch to promote the germination of the lower bud at the carving part and form the side branch. The specific operation method is as follows: parallel to the internode 1 ~ 2 wounds with a knife at the position of 0.5 ~ 1 cm above the germination promotion, the depth of the wounds is only from epidermis to xylem, and the length of the wounds is 1/2 of the stem circumference. Bud carving can not only promote the development of lateral branches, but also change the growth direction of main branches.
