Tianjia'an District is located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Huaihe River, in the middle section of Shungeng Mountain to the north and south. It is adjacent to Datong District in the east, Changfeng County in Hefei in the southeast, Shouxian County in the south across Wabu Lake, and Xiejia District in the west. It is adjacent to the Jiji District and is bounded by the Huaihe River in the north and Panji District.

Tianjia'an District is the main urban area and the economic, cultural, educational, and technological center of Huainan City, with an administrative division area of ??255.7 square kilometers. The district governs 5 towns (Sanhe Town is entrusted to Huainan High-tech Development Zone), 9 streets, 86 communities, and 28 administrative villages.
