Flame flower:

Acanthaceae, Flammulina velutipes, flowering shrubs.

Flammulina velutipes is a tree species in southern Yunnan, China, which is quite different from Flammulina velutipes native to Africa. Although the names are similar, the former is a shrub about 3 meters, and the latter is a tree as high as 30 meters. In the name of flame, flowers are bright red, warm and passionate.

The flowering period of the flame flower is from April to May. What is particularly amazing is that the tree full of red flowers is commensurate with the surrounding green leaves and has a little red in the evergreen tree. Because the flowers are large and beautiful, and the leaves are huge and gorgeous, they are good landscaping and ornamental trees, and are often used in garden collocation.

Flammulina velutipes is a tropical tree species, which can withstand the lowest temperature of 18℃, and the flowers will wither below 18℃, so this tree species is not suitable for planting in northern China. The flame flower is not red from beginning to end, but has a changing process, from red to green and then to yellow, which directly shows the aging process of the flower.

Like other shrubs, Flammulina velutipes can also be pruned, including diseased leaves, dead branches and bottom leaves. It doesn't need too much fertilizer, which will easily lead to flower root damage. It is enough to apply fertilizer at a fixed time. Newly transplanted trees should be watered with rooting water until aerial roots grow.
