Is the street phenomenon in Shenzhen really a chess fraud?
Playing a game of chess on the street and inviting passers-by to play chess is an antique move, but it is used by criminals as a "routine" for street fraud. Recently, Nanshan police destroyed a street chess fraud gang, which put up a difficult endgame and used the members of the winning gang to lure onlookers to participate. The "bet" is as high as 9000 yuan a game. At present, three members of the gang have been criminally detained and the case is under further investigation.

Passers-by "set a set" lost more than 10 thousand

On August 19, Gaoxin Police Station received an alarm from Mr. Li, a citizen, saying that when Mr. Li came out of Shenzhen University subway station at noon that day, he saw someone playing chess on the roadside and he went to watch it himself. In the meantime, after a man won a game, the loser said, "The winner can't play any more." The man who won chess encouraged Mr. Li, "This chess game can win" and advised him to gamble.

Under the temptation of men, Mr. Li challenged the banker and soon lost to 300 yuan. According to the police, the man who won chess at that time "helped" to direct Mr. Li to play chess. After Mr. Li lost a game, the onlookers continued to encourage him to "turn over" another game. Encouraged by "others", Mr. Li increased the stakes and lost 600 yuan, 600 yuan, 4,000 yuan and 9,000 yuan in the next four games. When he came to his senses, he realized that he might have fallen into the trap set by the fraud gang, so he reported the case to the high-tech police station.

After receiving the report, Nanshan police organized a police investigation and found that there were three or four other victims in this case, and the amount of fraud ranged from several hundred yuan to tens of thousands of yuan. After investigation, the police found that the fraud gang had a clear division of labor. In addition to the "bookmakers" who play chess in the street, most of the onlookers are "childcare", who are responsible for attracting people to watch, encouraging people to participate, and "betting" for victims who don't have a lot of cash on hand.

In the end, the police grasped the activity rules and foothold of the fraud gang, and arrested five suspects near Guangxin Road and Busha Road in Nanshan Xili, Bujidafen Village, Longgang on the evening of the 28th. According to the police investigating the case, after investigation, the available evidence shows that two of the suspects have nothing to do with the case and have been released; The other three suspects confessed to the crime of using the street endgame to defraud, among which Xie Moufeng (male, 34 years old), Somo Tao (male, 49 years old) and Xiong Mouqing (male, 32 years old) have been criminally detained according to law, and the case is under further investigation.

Most of the onlookers are "actors" who cooperate with the setters to fool passers-by

According to the police investigating the case, it is estimated that there are more than 100 criminals in Shenzhen, most of whom have been engaged in this business for a long time. They will move from time to time and even commit crimes across provinces, including Sichuan, Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan and other provinces and cities. According to the communication records and accounts of the suspects in this case, before committing a crime, gang members will contact the "boss" to determine the location of the next day, usually at the exit of a crowded traffic station. The gang will dispatch six or seven people to take care of the children, and one person will set up a chess game "ring" on the street, pretending to be an ordinary gambling game to learn skills.

The police told reporters that in fact, the end result of this gang was specially found, which was quite difficult and almost impossible for ordinary people to crack. However, when the "child care" came forward to challenge, the players deliberately released water, giving onlookers the illusion that it was very easy to win chess. At the same time, the bettor announced that the winner could no longer play chess. The winner encouraged the onlookers to participate and even gambled with them, taking turns betting, while the victim almost lost.

The police investigating the case also added that without a certain foundation, it is difficult to crack the chess game; Even chess masters, "child care" can take advantage of the crowded scene to play chess and change chess for the victims, and even pretend to be very enthusiastic and help the victims walk directly, and then the players will eat the children quickly without leaving the victims a chance to repent.

In this case, generally, every game will start in 300 yuan, and then it will double to 9000 yuan. The "gambling game" needs cash settlement. If the victim doesn't have a lot of cash, the on-site "child care" will help the victim bet on cash and the victim will move the money back.

The police investigating the case said that most of the victims of similar cases were out of curiosity, received the illusion of fraud gangs, and "wanted to try", but there was basically no hope of winning chess. Nanshan police reminded the general public that if they encounter street chess pieces, they must be vigilant to prevent being deceived. If fraud is found, you can report it to the public security organ immediately.
