Planting method of red plum tree (cold-resistant and beautiful flower tree in the north)
Red plum is a kind of plum blossom, belonging to small trees and sparse shrubs of Prunus in Rosaceae, with a height of 4- 10 m. It has been cultivated in China for more than 3000 years. Plum blossom is the first of the top ten famous flowers in China, and ranks as the four gentlemen with orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum, and is also called "three friends of old cold" with pine and bamboo. Hongmei is mainly cultivated in gardens, green spaces, gardens and scenic spots, and it is one of the favorite flowers and trees. Most people in our village have red plums in their yards, which bloom in the cold winter. Every winter when snowflakes fall, it is the season when red plums are in full bloom, and both plum blossoms and snowflakes can be appreciated.

Hongmei originated in the south of China, and its cultivation centers are Chengdu, Hangzhou and Wuhan. Plum blossoms like to grow in a warm and humid climate, and they can also grow well in sunny and well-ventilated conditions. They have low requirements for soil, are barren-resistant, cold-resistant and afraid of water accumulation. Suitable for growing on moist soil with loose and fertile topsoil, good drainage and slightly sticky subsoil. Hongmei likes warmth and plenty of light. It can withstand low temperature of -25℃ and high temperature growth of 40℃. It grows best in the area with annual average temperature 16-23℃. It is very sensitive to temperature, and it can still bloom when the temperature is below 0℃ in early spring.

Pruning of red plums: The flower buds of red plums are formed on the new branches of that year. In order to make the red plum blossom more, pruning can be adopted to make the red plum have more branches. This is very important. Buds should be thinned before flowering.

Red plums have strong germination ability and are easy to prune. If you don't pay attention to pruning and shaping, the red plum will be in disorder. There are too many branches and too few flower buds on the branches that grew in that year. Therefore, it is very important to prune and reshape red plum in time. Pruning and shaping are generally carried out after flowers wither, and light pruning should be carried out for trees or young trees with strong tree potential. Re-weaken the old stump. From the branches, the strong branches are lightly cut and the weak branches are re-cut. For pests and diseases, long branches, thin branches, overlapping branches, dead branches, etc. They should be trimmed at any time. Prune the flowering main branches and side branches properly, and then leave side branches on the main branches with 2-3 buds and cut them short. After autumn, the short branches with flower buds should be cut short appropriately, and the long branches with leaf buds should be cut off with 5-6 leaf buds. Generally speaking, a plant has 3-5 main branches, so the length, height and density alternate.

Maintenance of red plums:

Red plums can be viewed as potted plants. When potted, in spring, plants with close flowering period should be selected and put into the pot before the new leaves unfold. Potted soil should be loose and fertile sandy loam, and some decomposed cake fertilizer should be added. After being put into a pot, it should be watered twice continuously, and then planted in a sunny place.

Hongmei is afraid of waterlogging. Too much water will damage the roots, cause deciduous leaves and affect the opening of pregnant buds. In spring, water tends to grow white and there are few flower buds. When there is a lot of water in autumn, it is easy to lose many leaves. How easily water decays in winter. The ground where red plum trees are planted should be drained, and the accumulated water should be removed after the rain. Potted plants are usually watered once every afternoon in summer, and the accumulated water is discharged in time in rainy days, and watering should be reduced in autumn and during flowering and leaf exhibition. The principle of watering is to see dry and wet. If there are green leaves falling off, it means there is too little water; If the leaves turn yellow and fall off, it means there is too much water.

In addition to applying base fertilizer and changing pots in spring, red plum is applied with dilute liquid fertilizer once a month in summer growth period. When new shoots stop growing and flower buds differentiate, quick-acting fertilizer should be applied to promote the differentiation of excellent flower buds. In autumn, nitrogen fertilizer should be stopped and a small amount of available phosphorus fertilizer should be added to control the growth of red plum plants and promote flower bud differentiation. After flowering, it is necessary to apply fertility fertilizer and fertility fertilizer.
