What should I pay attention to after installing artificial eyes?
Eye plastic surgery is an integral part of eye plastic surgery, which is chosen by many patients with eyeball function loss. The so-called artificial eye cosmetic surgery is to remove the eyeball that has completely lost its visual function and implant an artificial simulated eyeball to achieve the appearance of the eye. However, some patients still lack the basic maintenance knowledge of the prosthetic eye after operation, and improper use may cause damage to the prosthetic eye or cause diseases of other tissues around the eye. The director of the Department of Orbital Plastic Surgery, Hankou Aier Eye Hospital has made some suggestions on the postoperative maintenance of artificial eyes. I. Cleaning and maintenance 1. Cleaning: it should be taken out and cleaned every day. When cleaning, wash the surface attachments with running water first, then with normal saline or cold boiled water, dry them with a clean soft cloth and keep them carefully. Before wearing the artificial eye the next day, use antibiotic eye drops or eye ointment to clean and moisturize the artificial eye. If the eye prosthesis is not used for a long time, it should be stored in a closed container and dried. In principle, eye implants should not be stored in water. 2. Regular disinfection: the artificial eye tablets should be thoroughly cleaned with soap solution every week and soaked in iodophor for disinfection. 3. Pay attention to protect the surface of the artificial eye: when cleaning, disinfecting or doing other treatments, soft objects should be used to contact the surface of the artificial eye, so as to avoid friction affecting the luster of the artificial eye and stimulating the conjunctival sac. There is no need to use disinfectant that is corrosive to the prosthetic eye, and it is also not allowed to soak the prosthetic eye with alcohol, because alcohol is an organic solvent, which will make the surface of the prosthetic eye rough and uncomfortable to wear. 4. Regular replacement: due to daily use, regular cleaning and disinfection, tear corrosion, material aging and other reasons, it is inevitable that the surface gloss of the artificial eye will decrease and change color. Therefore, according to personal use, it is generally 1~5 years replacement 1 time. If the artificial eye is worn or deformed by external force, it should be replaced immediately to avoid damaging the conjunctival sac. Second, follow-up inspection 1. Six months after the initial installation of the artificial eye, we should go to the hospital to check whether the eye socket is deepened, whether the lower eyelid is slack, and whether it is necessary to replace the artificial eye or perform conjunctival sac plasty. Follow up every year and deal with problems in time. 2. 10-year-old children, because after enucleation, the development of this side of the eye socket has not been finalized, so it is necessary to replace the artificial eye six months to 1 year-old, and gradually enlarge it to stimulate the development of the eye socket, so it is very necessary to make regular follow-up visits to replace it.
