As the capital of Fujian Province, Fuzhou is not only a political and cultural center, but also a transportation center, and is one of the important cities in the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Strait. Fuzhou has a long history and was founded in 202 BC. As a long-term political center of Fujian, it bears rich historical and cultural heritage.
Fuzhou is located in the eastern coast of Fujian Province, with a unique geographical position. It is one of the first coastal port cities to open to the outside world and an important gateway to the Maritime Silk Road. Fuzhou is also an important part of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Although Xiamen is also an important city in Fujian Province with a unique economic and cultural status, it is not the capital of Fujian Province.
