Ili pika, an endangered species in the world, was surprised to see Tianshan Mountain. What are its characteristics?
In Tianshan mountain area, the volunteer team of Yili pika protection carried out relevant protection monitoring work here and photographed Yili pika at this time. This is a volunteer. Eight years later, I took a very clear picture of Ili pika with my camera. Ili pika looks like a rabbit, but looks like a mouse. It is a very unique species in Xinjiang. At present, it is less than 1000, which is already an endangered species in the world. Erie pika lives in high mountains, does not hibernate, and also stores food.

Often eat trollius chinensis, rhodiola rosea, Saussurea involucrata and other alpine plants. Ili pika is petite. It is a mountain mammal with a body length of about 20 cm. Ears are big, but they look cute and playful, like a mouse. They will dig holes in the natural stone system or live in groups. The average adult Ili pika weighs about 240 grams. The length of ears and hind feet is the largest, among pikas and mice. Ears and beards are very long and can exceed 8 cm.

Its coat color is very bright, with brown spots on its forehead and neck and light spots on its neck. He looks like a mouse, and his tail will be hidden in his coat. Its tooth structure and some behaviors are very similar to rabbits, so it is called pika. Generally, its hind limbs are longer or equal to its forelimbs, and its whole body is very soft and dense. In summer, their fur will be more colorful. Ili pikas like to live in groups. They will move during the day and make a screaming sound.

They run short and don't hibernate, but when winter comes, they will spend the winter according to their food reserves. Mainly herbivores, the plants they use generally grow in crevices at very high altitude, so Ili pika often goes hungry. Ili pika still has some natural enemies, such as mink, fox and beast. The breeding season of Ili pika is usually from April to September. The pups have no fur and eyes, so they can't live independently.
