Cultivation methods and matters needing attention of Celosia cristata
Celosia cristata is an annual grass flower of Celosia of Amaranthaceae. In addition to the common red varieties, there are yellow, purple, orange, white and multicolor. The inflorescence is spike-shaped except Celosia cristata. Celosia cristata is native to South Africa and likes dry and hot air. Suitable for cultivation in sunny places, not cold-resistant and afraid of waterlogging. Generally, cockscomb flowers are cultivated in the open field or potted, and they like fertile sandy loam.

The sowing season of Celosia cristata is spring, and the seeds are soaked in cold water for 5-6 days before sowing. The seeds of Celosia cristata are very small and can be mixed with sand for sowing. Before sowing, the pot soil should be soaked, and the thickness of the covering soil should be based on the fact that the seeds cannot be seen. Cover the pot with glass and remove it in time after budding. The optimum temperature for seed germination of Celosia cristata is 17 ~ 2 1. When Celosia cristata seedlings grow two leaves, transplant them and plant them in pots or cultivate them in the open field. The upper pot of Celosia cristata is slightly deeper, only leaves are left on the pot soil, and loam and fertile soil of 1: 1 can be used. If you want to plant a large Celosia cristata, you need to change a larger flowerpot, but be careful not to loosen it, otherwise the seedlings will be delayed for too long and even die.

Celosia cristata can bloom in April-May and August-September. The optimum flowering temperature of Celosia cristata is 24 ~ 25℃. If planted in June, it can bloom on National Day. During the growth of Celosia cristata, water and fertilizer must be fully controlled, and topdressing should be done when buds are formed, otherwise it will lead to vain growth.

Cross-pollination of Celosia cristata is easy to cross naturally, which leads to variation of flower shape and color and loss of variety characteristics. This is also the reason why many flower lovers and potted cockscomb flowers at home have "variation". So different varieties should be isolated. Seeds at the lower part of inflorescence should be collected when Celosia cristata leaves.

Celosia cristata can also be propagated by cutting. The method of cutting propagation is that when the height of the seedling is about 15 cm, the core is removed to make it send out lateral branches. Then trim it in July. Remove the lower blade from the cutting tip, insert it into the sand at 1/3 and place it in the dark. It can take root and sprout in about 2 weeks, and bloom in 10 in the third week.

Through our introduction, I believe everyone has a deeper understanding of the cultivation methods and matters needing attention of Celosia cristata.
