Yantai, a prefecture-level city in Shandong province, is located in the northeast of Shandong Peninsula, bordering Weihai in the east, Qingdao in the south, Weifang in the west, Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea in the north, facing Liaodong Peninsula and Dalian across the sea.
Yantai has a land area of 13,745.95 square kilometers and a coastline of 99 kilometers, bordering on the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, with 63 islands. It has jurisdiction over Zhifu District, lai shan, Fushan District, Muping District, Development Zone, High-tech Zone, Jinshan Port Area, Kunyu Mountain Nature Reserve, Changdao County, and seven county-level cities including Longkou, Laiyang, Laizhou, Penglai, Zhaoyuan, Qixia and Haiyang. By the end of 214, Yantai had a population of 7.2 million and 47 ethnic minorities.
Yantai is an important node city in the Bohai Economic Circle, the backbone city of Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone, one of the first 14 coastal open cities in China, the only international grape and wine city in Asia, a key port city under the national strategy of "Belt and Road", a national historical and cultural city and a national civilized city. Yantai and Weihai are both famous "snow nests" in China.
