Winter pruning is divided into "light and heavy". Some flowers are difficult to cut. Be careful not to bloom again!
The coldest month is 1. Why should I trim it?

In the coldest month, many plants should also be dormant, and nutrients will retract to the roots, so pruning will not cause harm and recovery will be better. In this season, the light is weak and the temperature is low. Pruning can ensure the necessary light and nutrition of the main stem, so that plants can survive the winter better.

Three pruning methods

Light pruning: pruning is the least, only the degree of cutting off branches, residual flowers or a small number of leaves. Moderate pruning: no more or less pruning, usually 1/3 or 1/2 branches. Re-pruning: the pruning is harsh, and the leaves are almost polished, leaving only the main stem.

Light cut flowers

1, just bought a flowering potted plant.

Small potted plants bought at the end of the year, such as cyclamen, called autumn flowers and longevity flowers, can only be gently cut off when the flowers bloom. If the temperature is right and the nutrition is strong, spring may bloom again. Pruning method: it's very simple. Just cut off the residual flowers together with the stems. Don't water before and after pruning, or the wound will be infected easily. After cutting, bask in the sun and wait 1-2 days before watering. After 5-7 days, you can pour nutrient solution or a lot of flowers.

2.jasmine

Molly is afraid of the cold, but she is still alive, which means that your house is not cold or has heating. You can cut a little to avoid taking in too much nutrition. Stop heating in spring, it is easy to get frostbite when it is cold in late spring, and it can't bloom in time in spring and summer. Pruning method: If the jasmine is still growing new branches, choose slender scissors to cut them short and leave about 2 pairs of leaves. Don't let it grow too long, it will consume a lot of nutrition.

3. Crab claw orchid

Crab claw orchids are still blooming in winter. It also needs light cutting, which can be cut in time, which can not only accelerate flowering, but also make another crop possible. Pruning method: For the non-flowering or newly-flowering crab claw orchid, pinch off 1-2 leaves at the top of the branch, especially the thin and small leaves at the top. Squeeze them out quickly, then spray them with potassium dihydrogen phosphate, or Shuiduoduo No.2, and they will germinate again soon.

4. Gardenia

Years ago, Huahua said, don't cut gardenias in autumn and winter, because the buds of the next year are already brewing, and they won't be seen when they are cut the next year. However, this winter is warmer, and gardenias are still growing in greenhouses. If the branches are too long, cut them lightly. Pruning method: limited to gardenias with too long branches in winter. It is suggested to cut short some branches, only some branches that are too long, not all branches.

5.asparagus

Asparagus is also a little afraid of cold. In winter, it is usually kept indoors. If it turns yellow, or a branch grows too long, you can trim it a little. Pruning method: cut off the yellow leaves with problems. If a branch suddenly grows wildly, it can also be cut short. But many people who love flowers don't care and let them grow freely. This depends on personal preference. If you want it to be short and fat, cut it.

6.geranium

Many places are warm this winter. When the temperature is above 10℃, geranium may still bloom. Don't forget to trim it after flowering. After all, the temperature may drop. If the pruning is late, be careful of frostbite. Pruning method: If you cut off the blooming geranium together with the flower arrow, if the geranium turns white due to insufficient light, you should cut off or cut off the slender branches, otherwise it will be easy to get frostbite in spring.

7. Indoor large green plants

Rich tree, happiness tree, duck foot tree, banyan tree, rubber tree, Christmas tree. These large green plants are usually kept indoors. If it's a little messy recently, you can trim it a little. There will be a new atmosphere in the new year. Pruning method: slightly prune individual prominent branches and branches that are too dense and messy. The old leaves at the bottom can be cut off first; If you don't want it to grow too high, you can also cut off the top and trim it mainly with plastic surgery.

Moderately trimmed flowers

1, small seedlings should be capped.

Young plants of grass flowers in autumn and winter, such as Margaret, Petunia and geranium. If the temperature at home is above 15 degrees, you can pick them in spring to make them bloom. Pruning method: when the seedlings grow to more than 8cm, they can be pinched by 4, that is, about 1/3 at the top. After normal maintenance, when the new branches and leaves grow to about 5cm, they will continue to go to the top, usually 2-3 times, and bloom in March and April.

2. green radish

Green radish has many conditions.

Pruning method: raise green radish in winter and cut off yellow leaves in time. The yellow leaves of Parthenocissus tricuspidata fall off as soon as they are picked. Potted green radish is relatively dense, and it still needs to be trimmed by hand. There are also green radish with frostbite, which should be trimmed in time, otherwise it will rot and infect easily and make a mess.

3. Hu Pilan/cash cow:

Succulent plants such as Hupilan and Qian Qian trees can easily freeze to death in the coldest winter. If the leaves droop and bend, move to a warm place and slow down. If you don't slow down the next day, cut them off. Trimming method: cut from the bent position. Once the branches and leaves of Hupilan and trees droop, there is basically no possibility of recovery and they can only be cut off. Leave only the healthy parts, and don't water them after cutting.

4. Osmanthus fragrans

Osmanthus fragrans is also suitable for pruning in winter. Pruning should not be too heavy, and moderate pruning can ensure the growth trend of osmanthus fragrans and raise a good tree shape. Pruning method: Osmanthus fragrans pays attention to "three forks and nine tops", that is, a main stem opens three branches in different directions, and each branch continues to expand three branches. By analogy, it is a perfect tree-like osmanthus. In fact, the central idea is to remove the messy branches and ensure that each branch has room for growth and nutrition.

5. Fruit trees

If there are fruit trees at home, they can also be pruned in winter, such as pomegranate, persimmon, plum, peach and apricot. Now, cut it quickly, so as not to delay the flowering and fruiting, but also to bear more fruits. Methods Pruning fruit trees with the purpose of increasing fruit yield can cut off individual branches to stimulate more branches. If a branch has too many branches, it should be properly thinned and the crossed branches and twigs should be trimmed. Roses need pruning in the coldest winter. As mentioned earlier, the south is warmer, and the roses are still growing and blooming, so they can be lightly cut after flowering; However, when the temperature is below 5 degrees, the dormant roses will be pruned again. Pruning method: cut off the withered branches of roses planted on the ground, leaving the main stems of vines and shrubs 20-50 cm thick. Small and medium-sized indoor potted plants, cut off the branchlets, leaving the main stem and thick branches.

Neatly trimmed flowers

Clematis is almost dormant at this time. If you are not sure, you can find that its leaves begin to turn yellow below 8 degrees, which is actually a sign of dormancy. Pruning method: Because the branches of clematis have withered, they can be pruned again. All the shoots and yellow leaves are stripped, leaving only the main stem and 3-7 nodes in length. If you don't want to, you can leave them for longer. Wrap them in a flower stand and don't show your teeth.

1, Rose

Peony leaves are dormant in winter. Even if the leaves don't fall, it is also a special "vicissitudes". The dead branches and leaves will be cut down with a knife, and the new buds will grow better next spring. The dead branches of peony can be cut neatly, leaving only 5-8cm. Cut branches and leaves should be thrown away in time. Don't let them rot and breed bacteria in situ. The new buds of peony are still in the soil, and they will break out in spring, so don't worry about cutting them too hard.

2. Clematis

The most popular double-headed sunflower, which has no stamens and most of its seeds can't be harvested, is a perennial variety. Generally, you can survive the winter when the temperature is not lower than zero, and you won't die, but you should prune it strictly to prevent you from consuming too much nutrition, and you will be weak in the second year. Pruning method: very simple, that is, shave off the sunflower and cut it to 3-5cm from the ground. Do not water before and after pruning, especially when it is cold at home. It will be safer to put them indoors in the sun.

3. Peony

Bougainvillea grows well in spring, summer and autumn. Everyone is unwilling to cut it, for fear that it will not be cut well. Actually, it can be trimmed in winter. Bougainvillea is afraid of cold, and almost all the leaves fall out in winter. It is clear at a glance which branch is thin and dry. Pruning method: first cut off the long branches of bougainvillea, and the green branches can be cut harder, leaving 5-8cm. The main branches are mainly shaped and roughly cut into tree and lollipop shapes. Don't water it after cutting. After a few days, the incision is dry before watering. Note: bougainvillea likes warmth. After cutting, the temperature should be kept above 8 degrees before it can continue to grow. If the temperature is too low, blowing air and other reasons, the growth may stagnate. Scrape off the bark,

Pruning method: There are two situations. One is chrysanthemum with new buds on its roots. It is suggested to cut off the old branches that have bloomed neatly, leaving only new buds. Second, if there are no new buds at the roots, the old branches should also be cut. Just cut it in the middle and leave some.

4. Sunflowers

Blue snowflakes are not afraid of heat, but a little afraid of cold. It entered the house in the north early. In fact, it can survive the winter above zero. The coldest January pruning will break out next year. Pruning method: Lan Xue cut again, about 8- 15cm above the ground. Suitable for operation in northern Hunan. Southern Hunan is warmer in winter, and there is no yellow leaf phenomenon, so it can be trimmed moderately or lightly.

5. Phyllanthus

In addition to the above flowers that need pruning in different degrees, there are some flowers that don't need pruning now, such as hydrangea, Milan, pansy, horny pansy, cone planting, meat quality and so on.
