How to prune the large cherry to improve its slender spindle shape

①The basic structure of the tree. The trunk height is 70 cm, and the tree height is 3.5 meters. The trunk is relatively upright. There are 12 to 15 main branches distributed on the trunk, extending to all directions without obvious layers. The angle of the main branches is 80° to 90°, and the length of the main branches is 1 to 1.2 meters. The main branches are equipped with small and medium-sized fruit-bearing branch groups. The thickness of the main trunk and main branches maintains a ratio of 1:0.4. The whole tree is slender, the top of the tree is at an acute angle, and the central trunk extends naturally, making the entire crown appear in a slender spindle shape.

②Plastic shaping method. After the annual seedlings are planted, they are set to dry at 80 cm. When pruning in the winter and spring of the second year, use the second bud (competing branch) under the cut as the central leader branch, and cut it short at 1/3 of the branch to make the central trunk bend and extend, and the side branches emerging from the main trunk will Short cut at 1/3. Angle the branches when they reach semi-lignification in the current year after pruning. When pruning in the winter and spring of the third year, the branches on the main trunk of the second year will not be cut short, but will only be slowly released or broken. For branches that grow vigorously and are thick and affect the growth of the main trunk, they should be thinned out. The competing branches should be used as the central trunk head and lightly shortened. The other competing branches should be thinned out and branches with average growth should be left. When pruning in the winter and spring of the fourth year, the competing branches are also selected as the central trunk head. No short cutting is performed. The lower 1 to 2 branches of the competing branches are thinned out, leaving the middle branches. Carry out single-head running on the selected main branches, do not cut them short, and thin out the upright main branches and leggy branches on the back. When pruning in the fifth year of spring, when the tree reaches a certain height, it will no longer change its main body or head. It will naturally slow down its growth. After the branches are bent, they will be updated in time to ensure the top advantage. At the same time, the growth advantages of each main branch are maintained to achieve timely renewal and rejuvenation.
