With the overall promotion of the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island, the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government decided to build regional medical centers in the east, west, north and south of Hainan. Hainan Western Central Hospital (Grade III General Hospital) started construction on June, 2009 10. The project owner is Danzhou First People's Hospital. The Western Central Hospital covers an area of 240.6 mu, with a planned construction area of 1.65 million ㎡ and beds of 1.30 million, with a total planned investment of 580 million yuan, which is planned to be completed in three phases (five years). The first phase of the project under construction includes comprehensive inpatient building, emergency building, sewage treatment plant and other supporting facilities, with a total construction area of 50,000 ㎡ and 500 open beds, with a planned investment of 230 million yuan. At present, the inpatient building and emergency comprehensive building (Phase I) have entered the final renovation stage and were put into use at the end of 20 12. By then, Danzhou No.1 People's Hospital will move into the new site as a whole, marking the first tertiary general hospital in western Hainan.
