For experienced cat parents, they will not be stumped by the daily beauty of cats. However, it can be said that it is a big problem for novice cat owners. There are four main points in the daily beauty of cats, including grooming, oral hygiene, cat scratch training and manicure.
First, comb your hair.
First of all, it's best to set a fixed time and steps to help your cat comb its hair. It is best to choose the same place, use fixed tools and fixed training time every day, and fix the combing order of all parts of the body. Attract cats to come here voluntarily to comb your hair by rewarding them. Short-haired cats can comb with short-haired metal needles. Gently start at the back of the cat's neck, then under the throat, then the chest and other parts of the body. Be careful not to irritate thin skin parts such as abdomen, inner thighs and nipples. Don't comb for too long at first. If the cat is scared, put away the tools first. Remember to reward the cat when it starts to cooperate. When combing your hair, first use a comb with loose teeth, and then slowly change it into a comb with dense teeth. Don't comb your hair too long at a time, let the comb become an extension of your fingers. This will make it easier for you to find smaller hair balls tangled and avoid getting bigger and bigger. When you find tangles, don't wet them with water, because water will shape the wool and make the tangles more compact and difficult to comb.
Second, oral hygiene.
The same is true for the training of brushing teeth. It's best to start small and step by step. First, open the cat's lips with one hand, draw a circle brush and rub along the direction parallel to the gum line. You can use a toothbrush for the cat or for the wet baby. When cats get used to brushing their teeth, add toothpaste for cats. Don't clean too much at first, start with one or two teeth, or just massage your gums. Then slowly progress to 1 to clean all teeth within 2 weeks. The cat's tongue is very thick, and the inner side can be wiped clean under normal oral movement, so special attention should be paid to the cleaning of the outer side of the teeth when brushing teeth. Last but not least, don't forget to give a reward when you behave well.
Third, cat scratch stick training
The sooner the cat's grip training starts, the better. Keep the cat in a room or a closed environment, and try to prevent scratching inside the room. We put the cat's bed, bowl, toy and litter box in the room, and then install a cat grab bar with suitable size, texture and hardness near the cat bed. Cat scratch sticks can be bought or made by themselves. Most cats like cat grab bars, which can produce rebound tension when pulled down, and it is best to coat longitudinal rope fibers. The cat grab bar can be placed close to the wall or vertically or horizontally, as long as the cat does not fall down when using it. Cats' grab sticks should also be long enough for cats to stretch when using them. Some cat scratch sticks will smell of mint and stimulate some cats. In addition, you can try to rub the cat's paw on the cat grab bar a few times, so that sweat gland secretions leave traces on the cat grab bar. You can also hang a toy tied with a string on the cat's grab bar and swing the toy to induce the kitten to play near the cat's grab bar.
When you see the cat scratching the cat and scratching the stick, pat it properly and enjoy it. When the cat is used to using the cat scratch stick in a closed environment, the range of activities can be gradually expanded to the whole family. Scratching is a kind of marking behavior, the purpose of which is to leave information; Therefore, the cat scratch stick must be placed in an obvious position so that the cat can use it at any time.
Fourth, manicure
It is best to start nail training from an early age, so that cats can get used to nail art as soon as possible. It is best to do nail training step by step within a week. First, let the cat have a chance to check and smell the nail clippers. Then gently handle the cat's paw, then in the next training, clip the cat on the knee, and then press the cat's paw near the nail root with your left hand to expose the nail. Holding a nail clipper in your right hand, get a manicure first. If the cat responds well, give the cat compliments and snacks, and then trim other nails. If the cat's nails are light in color, cut them near the pink tender meat (about 2 mm from the fingertip tender meat). If the cat's nails are deep, trim them slowly and bit by bit. If you accidentally bleed, hold it down with clean toilet paper or gauze and count from 1 to 100. It is common to accidentally cut it too short. Don't be too alarmed. Cats generally don't bleed too much in this situation. If the bleeding can't stop after 10 or 15 minutes, you can consider seeing a doctor again, or applying some hemostatic or bandage. Reward if you train well, but if the cat is afraid, I suggest you postpone the training time.
