Is the body surface tumor benign or malignant? Distinguish the main points and make an article clear to you.
"Doctor, does this tumor behind my ear really not affect my health?" Liu Shu, 65, asked with a look of surprise and confusion.

It turned out that six months ago, Liu Shu found a small lump the size of a thumb behind his ear. It was not until the latest physical examination that he was told that it was lipoma, a benign tumor.

I thought it was serious to have a tumor. Unexpectedly, the doctor told him that it was a benign lipoma and no operation was needed. I just need to go home and observe it. Fortunately, Liu Shu realized that there are benign and malignant tumors.

In the above example, Liu Shu's lipoma actually belongs to a body surface tumor. The so-called body surface tumor refers to the tumor originating from superficial soft tissues such as skin, skin appendages and subcutaneous tissues.

Body surface tumors are also divided into benign and malignant, and benign is the most common. Although body surface tumors are similar in shape and size, their types and properties are different, and their treatment methods and prognosis are also different.

1. The growth is relatively slow.

Benign body surface tumors, in terms of growth rate, are very slow, some only grow a little in several years or even more than ten years, but they will gradually increase and increase with the increase of years.

2. Have a certain preference.

Some benign tumors on the body surface will have certain predilection sites, such as common lipomas, fibromas and neurofibromas. , more common in the subcutaneous tissue of the arm, abdominal wall and waist;

There is also a common sebaceous cyst (commonly known as powder tumor), which is a cyst formed by sebaceous duct obstruction, more common in the neck and back;

Older women over the age of 50 may also have senile ischial tubercle cysts on their buttocks, which cause pain when sitting.

3. Different shapes and sizes

There are many kinds of tumors on the body surface, which vary greatly in shape and size, from the size of soybeans, broad beans or table tennis to the size of fists, and some can even weigh several kilograms.

4. Push, no tenderness

Because of the benign tumor on the body surface, there will be a complete capsule coverage, which will not affect the surrounding organs and tissues. When touching the tumor, its surface is smooth and pushable without tenderness.

5. Under normal circumstances, it will not become malignant.

Under normal circumstances, benign body surface tumors will not become malignant, but it should be noted that some body surfaces are low-grade malignant (such as fibrosarcoma of the back), and it is difficult to distinguish benign from malignant in appearance. The diagnosis can only be made by pathological examination.

Compared with benign body surface tumors, malignant body surface tumors mainly have the following characteristics:

1. is growing rapidly, and will gradually increase and grow in a few months.

2. Most malignant body surface tumors are multiple, hard in texture, unable to push, accompanied by tenderness, invasive or exogenous growth, and common tumor surface bleeding, necrosis, ulcer and so on.

3. It is easy to relapse, the tumor is large and cachexia, and it is easy to lose appetite, emaciation and anemia.

At present, most of the treatment schemes for benign body surface tumors are surgical resection, which can cure them radically, while the general treatment scheme for malignant tumors is extended resection combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

If you find a lump under the skin, go to the hospital at the first time, and you can judge the benign and malignant by means of B-ultrasound, magnetic vibration and pathological examination, and then take corresponding treatment measures!
