The pruning of Taxus bonsai is not only a science, but also an art. Through different pruning methods, beautiful Taxus trees can be obtained, thus improving the ornamental value of Taxus bonsai. Generally speaking, pruning a yew is divided into five steps: knowing, seeing, cutting, taking and protecting. As soon as I know, the trimmer must know the quality requirements of pruning. Second, see clearly what each yew tree cuts first and then what it cuts, so as to be aware of it. Third, trim according to precautions and quality requirements. Fourth, take away the pruned branches in time. 5. Protective measures. For example, when pruning trees with a diameter of more than 2 cm, the cut surface must be flattened and coated with preservatives (such as vaseline).
2, Taxus bonsai pruning type
In actual production, there are mainly the following types of Taxus bonsai pruning: 1, tree transplanting pruning. When the trees are dug and transplanted, the broken branches and mechanically damaged branches should be cut off in time, the main branches should be kept, and the redundant small side branches should be trimmed to reduce water evaporation and improve the survival rate. Finally, appropriate pruning should be carried out according to the tree potential. The overall pruning amount varies according to different seasons. At least 2/3 branches and leaves should be pruned in hot summer, and the pruning amount should reach 1/2 when the weather turns cold after beginning of autumn. 2, daily styling pruning. If young trees grow vigorously and have many branches, the main purpose should be to expand the crown and ease the tree potential, and light cutting should be adopted, that is, all branches except the main branch are allowed to grow without pruning. For old trees with thin, weak and short branches, the pruning amount should be moderately increased year by year.
Special emphasis is placed on pruning boring trees. This kind of tree should keep a hemispherical shape with high inside and low outside. The thinning of branches should be dense outside and thin inside to facilitate ventilation and light transmission. In order to reduce the loss of nutrients, it is generally necessary to cut again. For Taxus bonsai with trunk, 3 ~ 5 main branches should be reserved, and the main branches should be cut in the middle and short sections, and the upper part of the main branches should also be cut in the middle and short sections. After pruning, the crown should be kept open, tidy and symmetrical. For Taxus bonsai without trunk (with many branches protruding from the ground), four to five evenly distributed and robust branches should be selected as the main branches, and the rest should be cut off.
3. Precautions for pruning
Pruning leaves have no stub, that is, the pruned branches should be cut off from the base.
Pruning big branches will leave a big wound, so it should be smeared with charcoal or paint in time to prevent rot, which can also play the role of sterilization and water collection, and is also conducive to wound healing.
When pruning thick branches, the length of 1/3 should be sawed off from the branches and then sawed off from the branches to prevent bark strain.
Before pruning, look at the distribution of branches and see the overall situation of the tree. Don't cut blindly. Look at the trees around you and know what you are doing before you cut the scissors.
For spherical Taxus bonsai, short cutting should be the main method, supplemented by cutting, so that the pruned trees are natural and beautiful.
After large-scale pruning in summer, carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl liquid medicine should be sprayed to kill secondary bacteria as a whole, so as to prevent branches from wilting and leaves from yellowing and falling off due to pruning wound infection. The concentration of the liquid medicine used is 1: 1500 (1g mixed with 3 kg of water), which is fully diluted and sprayed.
Reasonable pruning of Taxus chinensis can give full play to its best ornamental effect. Reasonable pruning can balance the nutrition and reproductive growth of trees, adjust the structure of trees, make full use of sunlight and air, increase photosynthetic efficiency, promote young trees to take root and sprout early, help old trees to rejuvenate, and ensure the vigorous growth, dense flowering and complete crown of trees.
