The fruit tree here mainly refers to the big tree that has basically completed the crown shaping process and entered the full fruit stage after about 15 years of cultivation. Generally speaking, the full fruit period of jujube trees can reach more than 50 ~ 60 years, and the soil, fertilizer and water can be well managed for more than 100 years. If scientific pruning is added, it will continue to be extended. There are three characteristics of big trees in full fruit period: first, the number of branches increases obviously, and the crown size and shape are basically stable; Second, the backbone branches are relatively open, with many fruits and good quality, but the growth potential is getting weaker and weaker, causing the branches to bend, droop and cross; Thirdly, the intensive extrusion of peripheral branches affects the illumination in the crown, the dry branches in the inner cavity lead to the outward movement of the fruit, the jujube rootstock ages, and the branches are locally naturally renewed.
The focus of crown pruning is to maintain a reasonable crown structure and high-quality and stable-yield fruiting ability, remove weak branches, pests and diseases, dead branches and useless branches crowded around, and improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions of the crown. Cultivate the branches of the lumen and try to control the outward migration of the generated part. Take back the long and weak branches that are bent and drooping, and renew the old branches that have been bearing fruit for too long. In particular, varieties with fast decay and poor branching ability should be cut again appropriately to promote the emergence of new jujube tree heads and enhance tree vigor. In full bloom, methods such as ring carving, ring fishing and ring stripping can be used to improve the fruit setting rate. The fruit should be thinned in time during the young fruit period to improve the fruit quality.
