Generally speaking, the density of apple trees planted by dwarf dense planting management technology is higher than that planted by traditional technology. However, the planting density should be determined according to the varieties of apple trees planted. For example, M26 intermediate stock apple tree species can plant about 90~ 100 apple trees in 667m2; M7 intermediate stock variety, 667m2, can plant about 50~60 plants.
2. Pruning should increase the number of main branches and control the crown size.
When apple trees are planted with dwarf and close planting management technology, it is easy to have problems such as close planting spacing of apple trees, limited growth space, easy growth of branches and leaves, and faster growth rate than before.
This requires regular pruning, but in the process of pruning and shaping apple trees, it is not advisable to use a tree with sparse trunks. Usually, spindle shape or slender spindle shape should be adopted, but no matter which tree shape is pruned, its overall structural feature should be that it has main branches and its side branches should be pruned.
At the same time, when pruning, we must control the crown size and increase the main branches as much as possible. This is because for 1 apple trees, if there are many lateral branches, they will compete with the main branches for resources, such as nutrition and water, which will easily lead to the weak growth momentum of the main branches, thus affecting their apple yield.
3. Pay attention to water supply and fertilization.
Because of the application of dwarfing and close planting management technology to plant apple trees, its density is high, and each apple tree bears more fruits and has high yield. However, due to the limited light conditions in the orchard, apple trees will easily weaken if fertilization and water supply are not paid attention to. If the branches of apple trees are short and difficult to manage, coupled with insufficient nutrition supply, they are more prone to premature aging.
Therefore, when the apple tree enters the peak of fruiting, especially when the top of the apple tree has blossomed, it must be pruned in time to ensure the supply of fertilizer and water. At the same time, in the process of pruning, we should pay attention to the overall balance of apple trees, highlight the growth advantages of the central trunk, and prolong the life of apple trees.
4. Improve lighting conditions.
The application of dwarf close planting management technology to plant apple trees has low density and lush branches and leaves, but due to limited lighting conditions, various measures must be taken to improve their lighting conditions. In winter, we must comb more and cut less. If necessary, we should trim it in summer to let the branches and leaves get sunshine.
