How to fix the natural happy shape of the second main branch?
1. dingan

After the seedlings are planted, they are dried at a height of 60 cm from the ground, and 20 cm (7 ~ 10 robust leaves and buds) are left under the incision as a plastic belt, and two main branches are cultivated in the belt. After germination, wipe off the buds under the plastic tape (but at least two buds in the plastic tape face the opposite rows) (Figure 40).

Fig. 40 The ends of two main branches are open and fixed (seedlings).

The cutting method of semi-mature seedling (bud) is the same as that of natural happy shape. After planting, cut off the rootstock at 1 cm above the bud grafting, and cut off other buds on the rootstock in time after the bud grafting. When the seedling height is 70cm, the core should be picked at 60cm from the ground (Figure 4 1).

2. Cultivate the main branch

When the new shoots grow to about 50 cm (about the middle and late June in Beijing), two opposite branches with vigorous growth and staggered growth are selected as the main branches and tied with vertical rods. The bases of the two poles are obliquely inserted into the ground and fixed, and the intersection points are tied to the trunk and extend to the row at the same angle, one of which is 80, and the other branches are controlled by coring. 1 month later, the main branches are bound again, and the vertical secondary branches and other leafy branches on the main branches are cored (Figure 42).

Fig. 42 Two main branches are cut into a zigzag shape, and the main branches are bound.

When the length of secondary buds from semi-mature seedlings reaches more than 50 cm, two vigorous secondary buds growing on the opposite side are selected as main branches for culture, and the remaining secondary buds are thinned out, or 2-3 secondary buds are left as auxiliary branches (Figure 43).

Unbound young trees can be pulled in August-September, so that the opening angle of main branches is 40 (Figure 44).
