How to nurse the wound after thyroid surgery
0 1. Keep the wound dry.

The most important principle of nursing wounds is to "keep dry".

Covering the wound with dressing, changing the dressing soaked in blood regularly and telling patients not to get wet are all to keep the wound dry.

Because the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms needs water, keeping the wound dry can effectively prevent infection.

02. Observe carefully whether there is bleeding.

The wound of thyroid surgery is in the neck. Once bleeding forms a hematoma, it is easy to compress the trachea and cause suffocation and death. Therefore, postoperative bleeding should be closely observed.

In order to prevent the wound from forming hematoma, latex tablets are usually placed during the operation to drain the congestion. Generally, after 1 ~ 2 days, the bleeding basically stops, and the drainage strip can be removed.

Even if the drainage strip is placed, it cannot be numb. After the operation, the doctor will still prepare the suture removal equipment. Once the patient has abnormal conditions such as dyspnea and asphyxia, the suture can be removed in time to relieve hematoma compression.

03. You can use painkillers.

On the day of operation, after anesthesia, the wound hurts the most. Although pain does not directly affect wound healing, it will interfere with the patient's sleep and appetite and affect the recovery of the disease.

The purpose of medicine should be to alleviate rather than aggravate the suffering of patients. If the postoperative pain is obvious, don't force it, you can tell the doctor and use painkillers as appropriate.

04. Pay attention to the temperature change.

After the operation, I usually have a little fever. This is a normal reaction when the injured tissue is absorbed by the body during the operation. After 5 days, the body temperature will tend to be normal.

If the body temperature still rises 5 days after operation, accompanied by redness, swelling, burning sensation and aggravated pain, you should be alert to wound infection and suppuration.

But two or three days after operation, the wound will generally have some edema, and the needle eye of the suture will be slightly red. This is a normal phenomenon and should be distinguished from infection.

05. Cooperate with the doctor and correct dressing change.

Patients should not uncover the dressing on the wound by themselves, which will cause wound pollution;

What doctors generally call "dressing change" is disinfection and dressing change, and no other drugs are needed;

Only when the wound is infected or there is a granulation wound, the doctor will do special treatment according to the needs of the disease;

The number of dressing changes depends on the exudation and growth of the wound, not as often as possible.

Frequent dressing change is not only not beneficial, but will become a bad stimulus, which is not conducive to or even inhibits wound healing.

06. Itching of the wound is a normal phenomenon.

During the operation, some nerve endings invisible to the naked eye were cut off. When the wound heals, new nerve fibers will grow into scars, which are easily stimulated and produce itching. This is a normal phenomenon. This itchy feeling will slowly disappear naturally, so avoid scratching.

07. You can take a bath after taking out stitches for 2 days.

After the wound is taken out, protect it with sterile dressing for a day or two, and then you can take off the dressing and take a bath. At this time, the wound has basically healed, and it is not necessary to cover it all the time.
