Travel notes of Dunhuang Mogao grottoes

Text/Xihe layman

With longing for Dunhuang, I trudged on the vast Gobi Desert. When I woke up, I finally realized that I had stood in front of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, and I really wanted to shout: I'm coming. However, out of respect for a long history and splendid culture, out of awe of Buddha, I can only silently and devoutly examine this world pearl dotted in the vast desert.

Stepping into the temple area, looking around, the Mogao Grottoes are surrounded by Gobi, desert and bare mountains, but it is unique here. full of green, with tinkling springs and many trees, can't help but make people feel amazing. The first "Great Archway" you see is magnificent, and the four powerful Chinese characters "Stone Chamber Treasures" are inscribed by Mr. Yu Youren. Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes are famous for their founding years and architectural scale.

The glory of the Han and Tang dynasties blew in Dunhuang, and the camel bells on the Silk Road sang about Dunhuang. "Dun, Da, Huang and Sheng also." The Mogao Grottoes are backed by Mingsha Mountain, facing three dangerous peaks, with five floors up and down. The total length of the North and South Grottoes 1600 meters. Existing caves vary in size, strewn at random up and down, with dense cliffs. There are lifelike statues in the cave. A Buddhist world full of religious flavor was set off. The Mogao Grottoes excavated in 366 AD have increased in many dynasties from Sui to Yuan. It is the largest and most well-preserved treasure house of Buddhist art in China and even in the world, and it is a wonderful work with a history of more than 600 years/kloc-0. Now it has been preserved from the Sixteen Kingdoms, Northern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Zhou, Sui and Tang Dynasties. Mural painting covers an area of 45,000 square meters, with 24 painted sculptures15 pieces. Among them, murals are the essence of the Mogao Grottoes, with large scale, wide subject matter and unparalleled artistry. Murals include Buddha statues, Buddhist monuments, historical changes, myths, patron saints and other themes and decorative patterns. The flying murals in the cave are the most vivid, flying around the sky, and some landing slowly with colorful clouds. Some hold their heads high, swing their arms and soar upwards; Some hold flowers and go straight into the sky; Someone floated across the sky with a flower tray in his hand. Skirts swaying with the wind and floating ribbons make the sky so light, ingenious, free and beautiful. The Buddha statues in caves are exquisite and lifelike, with different sizes, ranging from 43.5 meters to less than a foot high. Statues are mud sculptures with different expressions. At the same time, the ugly history of foreign robbers robbing caves began. 1987, Mogao Grottoes was listed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. With the screening of the film Dunhuang, Dunhuang has become more famous, and more and more people come here to visit. Many foreign tourists came to see it. A scholar said with emotion: "When you see the Dunhuang Grottoes, you see the ancient civilization of the world."

Now, when the dream finally comes true, facing the endless desert and desolate ruins, all kinds of feelings come to mind. I feel that Chinese civilization has a long history and is profound. I feel that the great powers bullied and plundered savagely. I feel that the glorious past has passed. I feel that today's China is writing a new chapter!

Tour Guide Words of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes (Reprinted)

Authors: plums, chestnuts and pears

Hello everyone! I am the tour guide of this Dunhuang tour. My surname is Xiao. Please call me a knife. Today, I will take you to visit society, production, life, transportation, architecture, art, music, dance, people's customs, religious beliefs, ideological changes, ethnic relations, Chinese and foreign exchanges and so on. Among the three major grottoes in China, the Mogao Grottoes are the earliest and last the longest.

Now I am going to visit the cave. First of all, we went to visit the famous "Tibetan Sutra Cave". The cave is located on the north side of No.3 tunnel of system engineering. 17 cave. It was originally the "shadow cave" of Hexi monks in the late Tang Dynasty, and an inscription contains this fact. 1900 One day in May, Wang Yuan, a Taoist priest in charge of the Mogao Grottoes, accidentally recorded this scene. These precious cultural relics were finally discovered, but the corruption of Qing Dynasty and the ignorance of Wang made these precious cultural relics plundered and robbed by imperialists. Obruchev of tsarist Russia came to Mogao Grottoes in 2008+0905 and used six packs of daily necessities as bait to defraud a batch of cultural relics. In 2007, the Englishman Stan only used dozens of horseshoe silver. The Frenchman Peliot stole more than 6,000 volumes of cultural relics in 19 1 1 year. Koichiro Yoshikawa and Ju Ruichao of Otani Guangrui expedition in Japan stole about 900 volumes until 19 10. It is collected in Beijing Library. Many cultural relics were stolen, damaged and lost during and after transportation, which is an immeasurable loss in the archaeological history of China. These documents found in the "Tibetan Sutra Cave" include religious classics and secular desires written in many languages, involving many disciplines, and are important materials for studying ancient religions, politics, economy, military affairs and culture. After decades of research by scholars at home and abroad, they have developed a brand-new hot subject-

So when and why was the Sutra Cave closed? One is: at the beginning of the eleventh century, Xixia invaded Dundun Dunhuang and hid it to protect the scriptures; One is: store the scriptures that are not used but cannot be discarded; Let's talk about it again: hiding to prevent the destruction of Islamists. Later, these classic monks were incorporated, but they escaped, returned to the secular world and died. No one knew about this cave before it was discovered at the beginning of this century.

Next, I will take you to visit Cave 328. The highlight of this cave is the statue. Before entering the cave, I will give you an overview of color sculptures. There are several forms of colored sculptures in Mogao Grottoes, such as round sculpture, relief sculpture and shadow sculpture. The smallest is less than an inch, and the largest is 34.5 meters high, making it the fourth largest Buddha statue in the world. Generally speaking, statues are made of wood and wrapped in straw, cereal grass and reeds. (2) Statues of Bodhisattvas, including Guanyin, Manjusri, Pu Xian and offering sacrifices to Bodhisattvas; (3) Disciples, including Ye Jia and Ananda; (4) Statues of gods, including Heavenly Kings, Lux and Lohan. And some animal statues such as ghosts and gods have different styles due to different production years, especially the styles of "showing bones and clearing images" in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, "Cao clothes coming out of the water" in Tang Dynasty and "Five Dynasties being the wind", which fully reflected the extraordinary imagination and superb thinking of artists at that time.

Statues are the main body of grottoes, mostly composed of 1 Buddha 2 bodhisattvas, which are thick in the early stage and gradually thin in the later stage. Since the Sui and Tang Dynasties, there have been a group of 79 statues, as well as large statues, such as two Nirvana statues in caves 148 and 158, which are more than 65,438 meters long.

Time flies and my explanation is over. Let's move freely. Before the activity, I have an old saying: Please protect the environment and cherish every inch of the Mogao Grottoes. She is not only a tourist attraction, but also the pride of China! Ok, 12 meet here. Let's go to the hotel for lunch.
