First, the production methods are different.
Yuanxiao is mostly rolled out. The boss will make the stuffing into cubes, sprinkle some water on it, and put it in a machine full of glutinous rice flour to keep rolling. After a few minutes, sprinkle water again, and then continue to repeat the previous tumbling until the Lantern Festival becomes bigger and bigger. Tangyuan is usually wrapped. You should first make stuffing and glutinous rice skin, directly wrap the stuffing into glutinous rice skin, and shape it by hand.
Second, it tastes different.
Because of the production process, the flavor of Yuanxiao stuffing is usually less, mostly sesame and peanuts. Yuanxiao tastes hard and usually takes longer to cook. Because it is covered with glutinous rice flour, the color of the boiled Yuanxiao soup is white. There are many kinds in jiaozi, including sweet, salty, fruit, sesame and bean paste. In order to cater to consumers' tastes, some delicious jiaozi have been introduced in recent years. The cooking time is shorter, it can be completely cooked in 3~4 minutes, and the color is clear.
Third, the preservation methods are different.
Yuanxiao is usually stored for a short time, and it is easy to crack even if it is frozen in the refrigerator, so most of it is eaten after eating. Lantern Festival is hard to see, and usually only appears around the Lantern Festival. However, jiaozi is preserved for a long time. We can often see it in the freezer of the supermarket, almost all year round. As long as it is placed in the freezer of the refrigerator, the storage time is generally about one year.
