Rose shaping and pruning
Plastic pruning of Chinese rose;

The key point of plastic pruning is to achieve a perfect gardening shape according to the environmental conditions of potted plants and the characteristics of different categories and varieties. Specific operation methods: We should master the different ages, seasons, growth strengths and diseases and insect pests of plants, carefully consider them, lightly cut them when they grow strong, and then cut them when they grow weak, flexibly implement them, and pay attention to the direction of leaving terminal buds. Give priority to with lateral buds to ensure the perfect tree shape.

1, seedling pruning

The pruning of seedlings and seedlings planted in cutting pots in winter, spring or summer should be based on bare hair, so as to promote them to grow strong and finalize the design as soon as possible. When seedlings are planted in pots, one or two new branches usually shoot from the upper part. Some branches are short enough to sprout: but civilization is not shaped, it consumes nutrients. It should be picked with the first leaf when the bud is about to develop color. When the new shoots without buds grow to 7-8 leaves, the apex can be removed to promote the growth and fruiting of the new shoots. The second branch is continuously emitted from the top, and other lateral buds are erased at any time. In this way, the seedlings grow sturdily, gradually inducing thick basal buds from the base (up and down the soil surface) and rapidly developing into primary branches (commonly known as stubborn strips). Primary branches have strong vitality and vigorous growth. After summer and autumn, they will develop into main branches in the coming year. It can continue to grow strong branches and produce rich flowers, fully showing the characteristics and characteristics of varieties. When the annual seedlings are cultivated at that time, the original branches of different varieties should be pulled out at the beginning of May-July, and the second and third branches should be cultivated. It is not advisable to cut it strongly in summer and autumn, otherwise the growth will not be full, and it will be difficult to form a main branch in the coming year, which will never be effective. It is advisable to prune again in winter, and spring will flourish.

2, big plant pruning

When the minimum temperature drops below 5℃ in winter, big roses that are more than two years old will be pruned. First cut off dead branches, branches damaged by diseases and insect pests, cross branches, thin and weak branches and old main branches, and then prune them in three ways according to different varieties and plant growth conditions.

Step 3 prune vigorously

The plants with weak growth potential of hybrid aromatic rose are strongly pruned, about 2/3 of the main branches of the whole plant are pruned from the upper part, generally 2 ~ 3 main branches are left, and all horizontally and vertically scattered and finely branched branches are pruned from the base near the main branches, so that nutrition is concentrated and flowers and fruits can be fully displayed in the next year. Strong pruning in winter is the main way of potted roses.

4, when pruning

Suitable for flowers with medium size and easy branching, generally cut off the whole plant 1/2.

5. Weak pruning

Weak pruning should be carried out on the normal growth and vigorous growth of Wang Rose and Mini Rose, and the whole plant should be pruned about 1/3 to prevent excessive consumption of nutrients. This kind of rose should leave more branches properly, which is conducive to showing the characteristics of lush flowers.

The pruning position is generally above the bud point of 1 cm, and the lateral bud point is left at the upper end to make the plant posture spread symmetrically, keep ventilation and light transmission, and prevent pests and diseases from lurking. For plants with sparse branches, according to the needs of modeling, inner bud nodes can also be set aside appropriately to make the branches gather evenly and the plant posture is plump and appropriate. Pruning tools, such as knives and scissors, should be sharp to make the cut smooth and prevent the branches from splitting.

6. Sparse buds in early spring

In early spring, the buds of Chinese rose flowers are dense, often overlapping, and the strength is clear. They should be thinned one by one to keep the nutrients concentrated and the plant posture uniform. Abundant flowers; In early spring, slender endogenous buds and overlapping buds are peeled off from the base, and the remaining buds are reshaped and removed again when they grow to about 7 cm. According to the needs of tree size and plant posture, leave an appropriate number of robust buds; Make it develop into branches and flowers.

Step 7 trim at ordinary times

Because of different varieties and different pruning methods in winter, the branches in spring are often of different lengths. After taking measures such as early spring bud thinning, the first batch of flowers are neat and consistent. After flowering, in order to maintain the balance of plant posture and make the flowering period of the second batch of flowers still consistent, the first batch of flowers should be moderately pruned when they are about to bloom. Master strong branches before cutting and short branches, weak branches before cutting and long branches. The pruning part should be cut below the place where the branches grow most vigorously. Branches are short and few, usually only the first single leaf or compound leaf under the flower is cut off. Long branches can be cut off as appropriate, but not more than 2/3 of the whole branch. Otherwise, the lower axillary buds will shoot slowly, leading to the second batch of flowers in the morning and evening, with uneven heights. At the same time, pay attention to the pruning of the first batch of unopened branches After pruning, the buds should be properly thinned. According to the plant type, two buds are usually left on the strong branch and one bud on the weak branch. Drainage should be done properly after pruning, and water and topdressing should be done after the new buds spread their branches and leaves. The second batch of flowers continued to open in mid-June.

The potted Chinese rose flowers in Beijing can be seen at a glance under natural climatic conditions, and the second batch of flowers will enter the high temperature rainy season. Most varieties are in semi-dormancy, and the branches with new buds are complex, thin and uneven, and the flowers are not shaped. In the meantime, it is not advisable to cut it. Some overlapping branches and clustered branches can be removed. When necessary, the buds can be picked, the tree body can be kept balanced, ventilated and transparent, and nutrients can be accumulated, so that the branches of the plant can grow vigorously and prepare for the National Day flowering. Autumn pruning began in mid-August, and was carried out one after another according to the germination speed of different varieties, the growth intensity of plants and the interference of pests and diseases. The pruning position is generally based on the second branch, that is, the branch after the first batch of flowers: cut from its lower part 1/3. Short-branch varieties with fast germination or vigorous growth can be pruned a few days earlier, and long-branch varieties with slow germination or weak growth can be pruned a few days earlier. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the pruning of other branches, so as to achieve national day flowering, and not to reduce the performance of spring flowers because of the refreshing and stable climate and moderate light and temperature.

Step 8 update pruning

The primary branch (grafted seedling above the rootstock) that germinates from the stem base of potted rose every spring and summer can develop into the main branch in the next year if it is properly maintained. In order to keep the plants symmetrical and plump, the primary branches should be carefully maintained, so that the main branches of the plants can be updated every year. The specific approach can be based on the expected tree type and style. Generally, the direction of the flowerpot can be rotated to make the new primary branches grow strong, so that the old branches can be cut from the stem base and updated at any time; Alternatively, when new primary branches grow to 20-30 cm, thin bamboo strips can be inserted in a predetermined direction and knotted to induce them to a predetermined position.
