Zhang edited plastic surgery for cleft lip and palate (1957), plastic surgery (1979), micro plastic surgery (1985), practical cosmetic surgery (1990) and repair and reconstruction surgery. In addition, he is the editor-in-chief of two English monographs, Principles and Practice of Microsurgery (1984) and China Experience of Plastic Surgery and Burns (1987).
Zhang Yisheng wrote more than 100 popular science articles, and in 2003 he published the popular science pamphlet Plastic Surgery in the name of an academician, introducing the scope, content and knowledge of plastic surgery in popular language, so as to let the masses know something about this emerging surgical specialty, so as to seek medical treatment and have access to doctors. Zhang's baking therapy is recognized by the International Lymphology Society as one of the best conservative treatments for limb elephantiasis in the world, and has been widely used in many countries.
Zhang's most outstanding contribution is to break the traditional medical viewpoint of plastic surgery and point out that the repair of tissue and organ defects should be combined with the maximum recovery of physiological functions.
65438-0976, the first correction of orbital hyperopia in China was successful. 1982, the original medical achievement of one-stage penis reconstruction with forearm flap, has won a high reputation in international academic circles. Up to now, more than 60 cases have been completed, 7 of which have been delivered.
In order to make more patients relieve the pain caused by scar, Academician Zhang decided to put this formula on the market. With the help of Dr. Ding Xiaobang, they successfully put it into production, upgraded the formula to a commodity and named it "Bairuikang".
Zhang initiated a new academic thought, that is, creatively renamed the Society of Plastic Surgery as the Society of Plastic Surgery, and organically unified plastic surgery and functional recovery for decades. He believes that "correction" refers to the morphological modification of human tissue and organ defects; "Recovery" means that patients can recover their physiological functions to the maximum extent. Plastic surgery in Zhang Faqi has broken through the previous categories of "maxillofacial plastic surgery" and "cosmetic surgery" and expanded the scope of treatment, covering all kinds of congenital or traumatic limb deformities, craniofacial deformities, burn deformities and so on. For decades, he has made great achievements in the fields of reconstruction surgery, microsurgery and lymphatic medicine.
He created a unique method to treat chronic lymphedema of limbs. Limb lymphedema, commonly known as elephantiasis, is caused by the obstruction of lymphatic reflux and the rapid accumulation of fluid and protein in superficial soft tissue. High concentration of protein can increase the osmotic pressure of limbs in tissues, thus forming edema, leading to secondary inflammation, thickening and coarsening fascia and skin, making patients' limbs bloated and inconvenient to walk. Some patients have recurrent erysipelas-like inflammation, chapped skin, ulcers and even lymphatic leakage all the year round, which brings a lot of inconvenience to work and life, and patients are miserable and gradually lose their labor force.
In the 1970s, microsurgical techniques were used to create the first-stage reconstruction of penis with forearm flap, reconstruction of temporomandibular joint with metatarsophalangeal joint transplantation, free transplantation of greater omentum, and skin grafting to treat intractable scalp wounds. In 1980s, many academic conferences and classes on microsurgery were held, and microsurgical techniques were widely popularized.
