Types and uses of floats
Although there are many kinds of floats, they can be divided into vertical floats, spherical floats, linear floats and horizontal floats according to their shapes.

1, floating vertically

There are hollow cylindrical, rod-shaped lattice, long pepper, jujube stone and cylindrical hollow ball.

The material for making floats has changed from early matchboxes or goose feather tubes to plastic or cork now.

In order to have a clear target on the water surface, the upper part of the floating ball is segmented with colored paint or fluorescent paint. Floats elaborately made with paulownia and Jiang Wei or hand-made with peacock feathers and goose feathers are more upscale.

Float and plumb hammer should be used together, so that when the float is in the water or floating on the roof, it should be slightly out of the water (also called rod and floating tail). When the fish swallows the bait, the angler will make an accurate judgment according to the sensitive movement of floating.

2. The stars float

There are spheres, ellipses and cylinders. A floating terminal has a terminal (floating head). Most floats are made of factory plastic, but they can also be made of rigid foam plastic or table tennis, or they can also be made of plastic boxes of Chinese patent medicines.

This kind of drifting has great buoyancy and is mainly used for floating fishing. When the fish swallows the bait, the ball moves greatly on the water surface, showing jumping or shifting, and sometimes the floating body sinks-black floating.

3. Linear floating

Linear drift is also called centipede drift or seven-star drift.

When making, use small pieces with a length of about 1 cm, and connect 5 to 7 pieces in series on the fishing line with an interval of 3 to 5 cm. At present, the linear floating ball on the market is made of polystyrene foam. Linear flotation is a series of small flotation connections, which is longer than general flotation, and can save the trouble caused by the change of water depth and the constant adjustment of monomer flotation position.

This kind of float is suitable for fishing in waters with grass or large changes in water depth. However, it is not suitable for use in fishing spots far from the coast or in rough waters. This kind of drifting southern fishing enthusiasts use it more.

4. Horizontal float

As the name implies, this floating posture on the water is supine. When the fish swallows the bait, is it inclined or vertical? It is not afraid of wind and waves, but also oval.

Floating selection:

The choice of float depends on the fishing method, the depth of fishing point, whether there are waves on the water surface and other factors to decide which type of float to choose.

When floating fishing, the total weight of lead, hook and bait in the water is less than the buoyancy of the floating body. Generally, floating balls or vertical floats with thicker and shorter floating bodies are selected. Some fishermen temporarily change to floating fishing in fishing grounds, and wearing foam poles can also solve this problem.

In bottom fishing, the total gravity of plumb hammer and bait in water is equal to the buoyancy when floating. If you fish in deep water, you should choose a floating bait with a little buoyancy and use a slightly larger plumb hammer to make the hooked bait fall into the water quickly, so as to prevent the hooked bait from falling into the bottom. When fishing, if the wind is strong, you can choose the upper body to be slender and the lower body to float freely or horizontally.

No matter what kind of float, in order to facilitate fishing observation, the color should be bright. When choosing drift, it is best to have no skew, no crack and no leakage.

In order to adapt to the changes of fishing ground conditions and environment, anglers should take more uprights before fishing every time, so as to temporarily adjust their fishing methods when they change.
