What is body language?
Language is the most important communication tool for human beings. However, some emotions are often expressed more accurately through nonverbal signals. Research shows that in the process of interpersonal communication, the credibility and reliability of non-verbal means to convey information are obviously better than oral language. When listeners feel that a person's words and deeds are contradictory, they will trust the latter more. Non-verbal expressions related to the body are called body language, which generally includes: expressions, gestures and postures, touches, etc.
(2) Expression
Expression is the external surface expression of feelings or emotions. Generally speaking, expression refers to actions, states and physiological changes that occur above the neck and can reflect inner changes.
1. face
Face is the first exposed part of the human body, the most important part of the human body to convey emotional information, and the primary information source to express emotions and attitudes.
Blushing and pallor are usually a reaction to lying. If a lie is exposed, the liar will be more nervous, sometimes his face will be bloodshot and his skin will turn red.
A key clue to identify a lie is a fake smile. Liar's smile rarely shows true feelings, but more is to cover up the inner emotional world. A fake smile accompanied by a high tone is the most powerful evidence to expose a lie.
Fake smile is due to lack of emotion. Due to the lack of emotion, when smiling, the expression seems a little vacant, the corners of the mouth rise, a pleasant pathological illusion, and the facial expression will unconsciously reveal a person's fake smile.
Smiling reflects true emotions and is produced by cheek muscles that can pull up the corners of the mouth. When the cheek muscles contract strongly, it will lengthen the lips, pull the whole cheek up, make the skin under the eyes sag like a pocket, and wrinkle the crow's feet under the eyes. Fake smile is not symmetrical, the muscles around the eyes will not move with it, and the eyes will not squint.
A fake smile can last a long time. A real smile can only last 2/3 to 4 seconds, and the duration mainly depends on the intensity of feelings. On the other hand, the fake smile lasts a long time, which makes people feel uncomfortable. This is mainly because the fake smile lacks the intrinsic motivation of real emotion. In fact, if any expression lasts more than 10 seconds or 5 seconds, it may be fake. There are only some strong emotions such as anger and ecstasy, and these expressions often last for a shorter time.
When you giggle, the expressions on both sides of your nostrils are often slightly asymmetrical. People who are used to using their right hand will pick up the left corner of their mouth higher when they giggle, while those who are used to using their left hand will pick up the right corner of their mouth higher.
2. Eyes
There is a song that says, "Your eyes betray your heart". In many cases, the frequency of blinking, the orientation of eyes, the change of visual way and so on can express certain psychological content.
Blinking can also reflect inner activities. Generally speaking, people seldom blink when they are absorbed in thinking. This is because the process of extracting information from the brain needs to be influenced by vision. A person blinks too much, and his mind is not active. On the contrary, when his blink starts to slow down, it means that he is entering a state of thinking. The interviewer can tell whether the interviewer is thinking by blinking.
The human eye is dominated by the intersection of brains. The human brain is divided into two halves. The left hemisphere processes information such as space, image and whole. The right hemisphere processes language, mathematics and rational information. When people think, their eyes move left and right. People who look to the left may be processing information with the right hemisphere. About 70% people always look in one direction, that is to say, whether a person is used to moving left or right may not always change. Because people usually move their eyes when thinking. Therefore, if the interviewer moves his eyes when asking a question without thinking, nine times out of ten it means that he doesn't want to tell this information easily, or that he wants to lie; If the interviewer doesn't move his eyes when asking a question that needs thinking, it means that he is not thinking creatively, and he may have prepared the answer in advance and know what the interviewer will ask.
Eyes are also the chief culprit in revealing people's inner secrets. When people talk, they keep eye contact and dare to face up to it, which shows that neither of them avoids the problem; Trying to avoid each other's eyes is afraid that the secrets hidden in the deep heart will be seen. When telling lies, interviewers often rub their eyes to cover them up.
(3) Gestures and postures
Gestures refer to various gestures expressed by hands and arms. Posture refers to all kinds of postures made by various parts of the body with the trunk as the main body and the different States presented. Gestures and postures can also signal emotions and postures.
During the interview, if the interviewer finds that there are more gestures, but the hand movements of the interviewer decrease with the deepening of the conversation, then the interviewer may have been lying, because when the interviewer focuses on the content of his speech, the body movements become not spontaneous but deliberate, and these body movements will be significantly reduced. The decrease of body movements may be because the interviewer is lying and focuses on monitoring the language content of lies. At the same time, subconsciously, people think that waving their hands will reveal their secrets, so they may unconsciously hide their hands and put them in their pockets when lying.
When people are worried that the lie will be exposed after lying, they will be very nervous and anxious. They will put their hands behind their backs to hide their uneasy psychological state, or hold each other tightly, or hold the other hand above their wrists. The degree of tension varies from place to place. Generally speaking, the closer the grip is to the elbow of the opponent's arm, the higher his tension will be. Of course, many interviewers are too nervous in the interview, even if they communicate frankly, they will hold hands tightly, so the interview manager needs to analyze and investigate with various body languages.
The gesture of crossing arms indicates a kind of defense, rejection and protest, indicating the existence of psychological factors such as contradiction, interaction of various situations or tension. When the interviewer lies or is afraid of being exposed, the manager opposite always has a defensive mentality. He doesn't want others to get close or get any information. When it is inconvenient to express it in words, he uses some kind of gesture to express his refusal and protest.
