At around 21:30 on November 26, 2019, Godfrey Gao and all the guests began recording the ninth episode of "Chasing Me". Gao Yixiang participated in two mini games and spent the rest of the time watching other guests recording programs on the main stage. At around 1:26 on November 27, 2019, Godfrey Gao began recording the track session. After running more than 600 meters and passing the devices on the track, he slowed down, sat on the edge of the flower bed, and then lay down at 1:30:52.
After the program team discovered something strange, they followed the director and called the ambulance on standby. Guests who were closer to the incident also ran towards Yixiang from the main stage. One minute and 46 seconds after he fell to the ground, medical staff from the Ningbo Emergency Center on standby arrived and began professional rescue. After more than 20 minutes of first aid, the ambulance sent Yixiang to the nearby tertiary hospital Ningbo Medical Center Li Huili Hospital. After more than 2 hours of full-scale rescue, the hospital declared that the rescue was ineffective.
