The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine was founded in 1869. Its predecessor was Hangzhou Guangji Hospital founded by the Anglican Church in China. 1885- 1925 hospital affiliated guangji medical college is one of the earliest medical colleges in China.

1989, as a pilot, the hospital was the first in China to pass the evaluation of a third-class first-class hospital; 1998 won the title of National Top 100 Hospital and Model Civilized Unit in Zhejiang Province; In 2008, it was rated as the national advanced unit of hospital management year. Many times, the high standards have passed the evaluation of the third-class first-class hospitals in Zhejiang Province; In 20 13, it passed the evaluation of JCI International Academic Medical Center in the first batch in the world, and successfully completed the hospital evaluation of the Ministry of Health as the first hospital.

At present, the hospital has two compound areas, Jiefang Road and Binjiang, with 3,788 full-time employees and nearly 600 experts with senior titles, including 5 from Changjiang distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education, 5 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the Ministry of Health, 3 national outstanding young people, 6 national youth 1 person, deputy director of Chinese Medical Association and above, director 1 person in 1973, and government special allowance expert/kloc. Zhejiang University has distinguished professor, 12 lecturers, 62 doctoral supervisors and 2 distinguished experts from Zhejiang Province. It has a doctoral degree awarding point and a post-doctoral clinic, and is the only honorary academician of American College of Surgery in Chinese mainland.
