The Education Film Studio filmed the film "Ancient Humans in China", and Wu Xinzhi cooperated with Wang Cunyi to combine Maba skull with the remains of Changyang maxilla to create a restored image. Because Maba's nasal bone and Changyang's maxilla can't be connected with each other in anatomical position, Wu Xinzhi felt very uncertain when designing the upper face height of the reconstructed image. 1978 and 1984, the skulls of Dali people and Jin Niu Shan people in Yingkou were unearthed one after another. Zhao cooperated with Professor Wu Rukang to recover the skull fossils of Jinniushan, which were broken into more than 100 pieces by Peking University. They worked on it for many days and were impressed by its shape. They feel that many details of its shape, including the height and flatness of the face, are very similar to Dali. Therefore, if we re-evaluate the height of Maba people and arrange the flatness of Maba people's faces, we will have a more solid foundation and confidence. In a word, there are more conditions to create a restored image of Maba people than ten years ago. The first step of this work is to restore the broken skull of Maba people into a complete skull. The back, lower part and left front of this skull are missing. Firstly, the missing left anterior part is restored according to the symmetry principle, and then the rest of the skull is restored according to the natural running trend of the preserved sagittal arc and coronal arc. The head length and width of Maba people are 197mm and 152mm, respectively, which are not much different from Dali people (207 and 149mm, respectively), but the skull index is large, that is, Maba people's head shape is not as long and narrow as Dali people's. The right orbital margin of Maba fossil is preserved for more than three quarters, and the restoration is credible. According to the principle of symmetry, restore his left orbit. The distance between the frontal, zygomatic and temporal points on both sides of the skull recovered by this method is 122 mm, which is completely consistent with the same measured value of Dali skull. According to the position of the reconstructed skull base and the bones in the middle part of the face, the positions of the bilateral zygomatic arches are determined. Results The maximum area width was 146 mm, which was similar to Dali skull (144 mm). The lower part of Dali's facial bone was pressed upward, resulting in deformation. After repair, the zygomatic angle is 125, which is similar to the skull of Jinniushan.
The zygomatic angle of late Homo sapiens fossils found in China is125-138 (Wuet Zhang1985). There is a series of evidence that ancient humans in China are constantly evolving (Wu Xinzhi, Zhang Yinyun 1978), so it should be reasonably assumed that the zygomatic angle of Maba people is also within this range. Therefore, the angle of skull restoration of Maba people is 126. In order to repair the flap of Maba people, the maxilla of Changyang people was repaired according to the symmetry principle, and it was found that the size of the repaired maxilla was very close to that of Dali people. Therefore, on the basis of repairing the maxilla by Changyang people, the lower skeleton of Maba people's skull was restored. The mandible of early Homo sapiens in China has not been found so far. Although the apes in Beijing and Lantian had mandibles, they were too early. The mandible was also found in caves and cat holes, but it was too late. It is not suitable to reconstruct the mandible of Maba people according to these specimens. So we have to borrow foreign materials. In the mandible of the same development stage, Palestinian specimens were selected, because compared with Europe, Palestine is geographically closer to China. The head length and width of A Mu human skull model are 206 and 146 mm respectively. Similar to Dali people, the skull reconstructed by Maba is slightly narrower. The distances between the frontal, zygomatic and temporal points on both sides of A Mu model are 120 and 14 1 mm, respectively, which is also slightly narrower than the skull reconstructed by Maba. According to the German mandible model in A Mu, it was made narrower and filled in the position of Maba mandible.
