Cultivation techniques of Ficus gracilis
Ficus tenuifolia is a perennial evergreen tree of Ficus of Moraceae, and it is the most ideal street tree for urban construction in tropical and subtropical regions. It can not only beautify the environment, but also adjust the climate and shade the sun. Because of its strong regeneration ability and easy survival by cutting, Ficus carica is often propagated by cutting. But its disadvantages are high cost and low propagation coefficient. Second, the cut branches will dry up, so that the cut mother tree will form a hollow tree and shorten its life. Therefore, the method of seed propagation is advocated to cultivate seedlings in production.

Seed collection and seed treatment

Every May, when the hidden flowers and fruits of slender banyan trees turn from green to orange-red and begin to fall off naturally, it is the best time to collect seeds. After the fruit is harvested, it is kneaded, washed with clear water and filtered with gauze. Repeatedly elutriating and filtering for many times, washing the milk and pericarp contained in the fruit, and drying and storing the filtered seeds on gauze or using them for breeding.

Seedbed finishing

Ficus gracilis seeds are small, so the nursery site should be thin, thin and flat. Choose a sandy loam plot with flat terrain and deep soil layer, plow and harrow it thoroughly, evenly spread 50% carbendazim in the soil at 3g/m2 for disinfection, then dig a ditch with 80cm width to level the bed surface, and spread 1 layer 1 ~ 2cm thick mountain humus on the bed surface.

grow seedlings

The best time for raising seedlings is from the end of May to the beginning of June, that is, picking, drying and sowing in time. Seeds stored in the shade can also be sown in autumn of that year or when the temperature rises steadily in March-April of the following year. When sowing, mix 1 seed with 3-5 parts of fine sand, spread it evenly on the bed surface, and then gently water it with fine water with a sprayer or watering can to moisten the soil. In the future, water the soil properly according to the soil conditions to keep the soil moist.

Keep out the sun and rain.

The young seedlings of Ficus tenuifolia are quite delicate and delicate, and they are easy to die in the sun or in continuous rain. In order to improve the survival rate of seedlings, the seedbed should be shaded by awning or sunshade net, and covered with agricultural film in rainy days. The height of the canopy should be easy to manage.

Seedling transplantation

When the seedlings grow 4-6 true leaves and the height of the seedlings is 10cm, transplant them to the nursery with the row spacing of 10cm×30cm, strengthen fertilizer and water management after turning green, and cultivate strong seedlings. Potted plants can be planted in pots for cultivation.

Transplanting and planting

When the height of seedlings in the nursery exceeds 30 cm, they can be transplanted into earthen pots or bamboo baskets filled with fertile soil and planted in neatly arranged pots or baskets according to the classification of large, medium and small seedlings. After that, apply more compound fertilizer and water it properly and timely to cultivate 1 ~ 2a young trees. When the young trees grow to a height of 1 ~ 1.5m, they can be planted out of the nursery. After that, it should be pruned as needed to make the tree look beautiful and meet the greening requirements.
