"Toast" is the transliteration of English toast. Bread is cut into slices and baked before it can be called toast. So strictly speaking, toast is the product of reprocessed bread.

Baking bread was invented by a Frenchman, Grad Depardieu, in 1491. This gentleman had always wanted to invent a machine that could turn slices of bread into gold. Later, the King of France found out about it. The king gave him two weeks to invent this machine that could turn bread into gold. Of course, in the end, he did not succeed in the invention, so he had to go to the king with bread and a toaster. When the bread jumped out of the toasting machine, everyone knew at a glance that it was not gold. The gentleman was almost beheaded, but as a last resort, he put cheese on the toast as an offering to the king. After the king ate it, he thought it was delicious and worth more than gold, so he did not chop off his head and named the bread "Toast". Toast is the name of the king's daughter, hence the current toast.
