Harvest Festival of Dawu (Yamei)
Dawu people live in Lan Yu Island, Yilan County, southern Taiwan Province. Formerly called Ami, 1998 was renamed Dawu. Its harvest festival is called "Millet Harvest Festival", which is a day of gratitude. Generally, it is held after the millet harvest in May and June every year. The main ceremonies are offering sacrifices to God and various prayer dances. Men's tumbling dance is rough and powerful, women's bun dance is unique, and the brave dance of lean young people is unrestrained, as well as farming dance and hat dance. It used to be held as a family unit, but later it was changed to a large-scale sacrifice in the whole village.
