This film is based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. At the beginning of19th century, the death of an adult man was undoubtedly an unexpected trouble for a less wealthy family. The sudden death of Nicholas's father plunged a family of three into the abyss of life. Young Nicholas was forced to take on the heavy responsibility of bringing home the bacon. He was employed to teach in a charity primary school, where he witnessed the cruel torture and oppression of children under the cover of so-called charity signs. Honest Nicholas didn't want to sell his soul for a poor reward, so one night, he left this world with Smack, who was bullied by the school.
