Yuanyang terraced fields are large-scale and magnificent, spanning the four counties of Honghe, Yuanyang, Lvchun and Jinping on the south bank of Honghe. Yuanyang County alone has 6.5438+0.7 million mu of terraced fields, which is the core area of Hani terraced fields in Honghe. Yuanyang county is full of mountains, terraces are built on hillsides, and the slope of terraces ranges from 15 to 75 degrees. As far as a hillside is concerned, the highest number of terraces reaches 3000, which is rare in terraced landscape at home and abroad. There are three scenic spots in Hani Terrace in Yuanyang: eight scenic spots include Qingkou, Quanfuzhuang, Malicun and Zhulu terraces14,000 mu, Tiger Mouth terraces include nearly 6,000 mu of terraces such as Mengpin, Dongpu, Amunkong and Baoshan Village, and Duoyishu scenic spots include tens of thousands of acres of terraces such as Duoyishu, Ai Chun and Dawazhe. So many terraces are covered by vast forests and endless clouds, forming a magical and magnificent landscape. These scenic spots are the core protected areas that are currently preparing to declare World Heritage.
Since 1980s, the visibility of Hani Terrace in Yuanyang has been increasing day by day, from the closed Ailao Mountain to the whole country and even the world. Experts, scholars and tourists from home and abroad flocked to the site. 1993 during the first international Hani culture seminar, more than 100 representatives from China, Holland, Japan, the United States, Britain, Thailand and other countries visited the Hani Terrace in Quanfuzhuang, Shengcun Township, and were deeply impressed by its magnificent landscape and rich culture. 1995, the French anthropologist Dr. Ouyena also visited the Hutou Terrace in Yuanyang. Facing the 10,000-acre terraced fields under her feet, Dr. Ou Yena was so excited that she didn't want to leave for a long time. He praised: "The terraced fields of Hani nationality are real earth art, real earth sculpture, and Hani nationality are real earth artists!" As long as you climb any mountain top in Yuanyang, you will see terraced fields filled with mud like mountains and seas.
The seven ethnic groups living on a mountain in Yuanyang county generally live in layers according to altitude, and most of them live in the Heba area with an altitude of 144 to 600 meters. The canyon area is 600 meters to 1000 meters, mostly inhabited by Zhuang people; From 1000 meters to 1400 meters, the lower half of the mountain area is mainly inhabited by Yi people; /kloc-most of the upper half of the mountain from 0/400m to 2000m is inhabited by Hani people; Most of the mountainous areas above 2000 meters are inhabited by Miao and Yao; Most of the Han people live in towns and along highways. The upper part of the mountain where the Hani people live has a mild climate and abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature is about 15 degrees and the annual sunshine is 1670 hours, which is very suitable for rice growth. Therefore, the ancestors of Hani people have cultivated terraced fields to grow rice since they entered this area in Sui and Tang Dynasties. During the period of 1200, the Hani nationality has exerted amazing intelligence through the painstaking efforts of dozens of generations. At the same time, Hani and other ethnic groups have also exerted great genius and creativity. Hundreds of ditches and main canals were dug in the mountains, and 4653 backbone ditches were built, of which 662 irrigation areas exceeded 50 mu. All the ditches are tightly wrapped around the mountains like silver belts, and the mountains and rivers flowing down from the large and small ditches are cut into ditches, thus solving the water conservancy problem and the lifeblood of terraced rice planting. The Hani people have cultivated thousands of terraces with the life-long efforts of dozens of generations, and introduced ditches and canals into the fields for irrigation. Because mountains and rivers flow all the year round, terraces can be saturated with water all the year round, ensuring the development and harvest of rice. The imagination of Hani people to cultivate terraces is amazing. It changes with the mountainous terrain and adapts to local conditions. Plowing when the slope is gentle, ploughing small fields when the slope is steep, and even in the crevices under the ditch, efforts are being made to open fields. Therefore, there are several acres of terraces, and the small ones are only as big as dustpans, and often there are thousands of acres on a slope. This landscape constitutes an unpredictable symphony of heaven and earth art, and has become a spectacle of terraced fields attracting worldwide attention.
The terraced fields of Hani nationality in Yuanyang have always been a large and dynamic system, and today they are still the foundation of Hani's material and spiritual life. 166689 mu of terraced fields are raising 33697 1 agricultural population, 63958.4 hectares of forests on high mountains provide domestic water and farmland water for the people of the county, and 4653 ditches and main canals in the county are still irrigating terraced fields above Qianshanwanling, which is a remarkable feature of the wonders of Hani terraced fields in Yuanyang. Different from the sites that have lost their functions, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Mausoleum of the First Qin Dynasty, the Egyptian pyramids, the Taj Mahal in India, the simple natural landscapes, such as Mount Tai, Mount Huangshan and Niagara Falls, and the simple humanistic creations, such as the Confucius Temple in Qufu, the Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Summer Palace in Beijing, it is a harmonious creation of great human beings, and the Hani people in Ailao Mountain and nature promote and complement each other, which is the product of a clever combination of culture and nature.
