The inspiration of "Ta Ge" comes from the story of Han Xin, a famous soldier in the Han Dynasty, who led an army to cross the Huaihe River. The whole dance began with a guqin solo. Through music, dance and other forms of expression, it gradually shows the arduous course of Han Xin's army crossing the choppy Huaihe River and the passionate scenes of soldiers fighting and pursuing.
Representative dances in the works include Jade Goddess of Mercy Raised by Pearl Curtain, Green Water and Long Grass, Drawing Beams and Fishermen's Return, Qingyang Quhui Meihe, Sleeping at the foot of Cuiping Mountain, etc. These dances reproduce the scenery of the Han Dynasty and the marching scenes of the army through delicate dance movements and exquisite costumes, and show the beauty and charm of China classical dance.
Because of its unique artistic value and influence, the work "Ta Ge" won the gold medal in the international dance competition for many times and was rated as "one of the outstanding dance works in China since 1950s". It has also become one of the representative works of China classical dance, which has a far-reaching influence on later dance creation.
