The Wa population is 35 1 000, including more than 347,000 in Yunnan. It is mainly distributed in Ximeng Wa Autonomous County, Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, Gengma, Shuangjiang, Zhenkang, Yongde, Lancang, Menglian County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Dehong Autonomous Prefecture in the west and southwest of Yunnan Province, among which Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County and Ximeng Wa Autonomous County are the main settlements of Wa people.
