JERRY means oil drum, which was invented by the Germans. Before World War II, the German high command formulated the strategy of blitzkrieg, but at the same time, there was a problem. Because attack force's attack speed is too fast, the logistics supply can't keep up, and thousands of tanks, armored vehicles and trucks need a lot of gasoline in the battle. The German high command foresaw this problem and designed a container for gasoline (now people call this container an oil drum). 1939, before the German invasion of Poland, there were tens of thousands of oil drums. The genius design of the Germans makes the current military gasoline tank still follow the design of the Germans more than 60 years ago. In the successful blitzkrieg across Europe at the beginning of World War II, the design of oil drums was regarded as the main part and kept strictly confidential.
This German oil drum should be called "Jerry Tank". During World War II, the Allies used "Jerry" to call the Germans, and this title is still retained today.
