What changes have taken place in Soviet culture and art in the 1930s?
Great changes have taken place in Soviet culture and art in 1930s. In the field of architecture, the design of avant-garde architects has been criticized. The initial criticism was "matchbox architecture" everywhere, and later the criticism was extended to the denial of the aesthetic thought of the new architectural movement. New architecture is regarded as asceticism, with poor and pale artistic image, unable to solve the problem of commemorative art, simple new architecture is regarded as "the loss of social artistry of architecture", while avant-garde architecture is "imitation and plagiarism of western bourgeois architecture". The popular neoclassical art before the revolution began to be respected, emphasizing the role of decorative art in architectural design, and the tendency to combine architecture with painting and sculpture to explore new decorative means gradually gained the upper hand.
