5. The essential difference between controlled ablation induced by discharge and ordinary EDM dressing.
The essential difference is different electrodes, different processing principles and different applicability.

1. electrodes are different: both EDM and WEDM corrode the workpiece by electric pulse high-frequency discharge, but EDM needs to manufacture electrodes in advance. What kind of electrode should be used to process what shape of workpiece, and wire cutting is to manipulate conductive molybdenum wire to etch workpiece.

2. The machining principles of the two are different: the main machining object of EDM machine tool is to print out fine-grained stripes or curved surfaces, while WEDM machine tool is to process planar workpieces. The activity of WEDM is to move the workpiece, and EDM is to move the electrode to realize machining.

3. Different adaptability: EDM can process through holes and blind holes, which is suitable for processing cavities, lettering and marking of parts such as plastic molds with complex shapes, while WEDM can only process through holes, which can conveniently process small holes, narrow slits and various parts with complex shapes.
