Shahekou area

Dalian, also known as Bincheng, formerly known as Darini and Qingniwa, is a sub-provincial city and a city under separate state planning in Liaoning Province. Located at the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula in Liaoning Province, on the coast of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, it is backed by the northeast hinterland of China and across the sea from Shandong Peninsula.

Xinghai Square, located in Shahekou District, Dalian, is one of the landmark buildings in Dalian and the largest square in Asia. Sports sculpture on Xinghai Square is one of the features. These sports elements were built to welcome the 2008 Olympic Games.

18 sculpture shows 18 kinds of sports, namely skiing, hockey, fencing, speed skating, boat insertion, table tennis, basketball, long-distance running, shooting, pole vault, figure skating, javelin throw, softball, discus throw, diving, long jump, race walking and rhythmic gymnastics. Sculpture expresses Dalian people's expectation for the 2008 Olympic Games and their love for sports. At the same time, it also shows that the Dalian Municipal People's Government attaches great importance to the 2008 Olympic Games and the health of the whole people.

Dalian forest resources

Dalian has a total forestland area of 4,999 square kilometers, a forest area of 4,249 square kilometers, a forest coverage rate of 4 1.5%, a tree greening rate of 50%, and a per capita park green area of1.3 square meters in the built-up area. The ecological public welfare forest covers an area of 2755 square kilometers, including 734 square kilometers of national public welfare forest and 202 1 square kilometer of municipal public welfare forest. The natural forest covers an area of 479 square kilometers. The main forest species in our city are oak, black pine and black locust, with 4243 square kilometers of arbor forest and 6 square kilometers of special shrub forest.

Dalian water resources

Dalian has two major water systems: the Yellow Sea Basin and the Bohai Sea Basin. The main rivers flowing into the Yellow Sea are Biliu River, Naying River, Zhuanghe River, Zanzi River, Dasha River, Dengsha River, Qingshui River and Malan River. The main rivers flowing into Bohai Sea are Fuzhou River, Liguancun River and Sanlipu River. Among them, Biliu River is the largest river, which is the source river for inter-basin water transfer in urban areas. In addition, there are more than 200 small rivers. The total fresh water resources in Dalian are 3.786 billion cubic meters per year, including 3.42 billion cubic meters of surface water resources, 884 million cubic meters of groundwater resources and 580 million cubic meters of repeated water resources.
