This semi-Roman classical building has three floors and three bays, tall steps, arched doors and windows, red tile domes and cast iron railings, with smooth lines and exquisite architecture. Especially the classical columns of houses are rare in the modern architecture of West Lake. The eaves, bodies, pillars and foundations of stone and brick beams and columns are luxuriously decorated, with distinctive features and great architectural artistic value, which also determines the unique classical style of this building. But its name is typical Chinese style, and it says "Lonely Cloud Grass House". This is because it is diagonally opposite to the lonely mountain, and the wall of Yuanjing No.1 Academy is embedded with the five-character stone carving of "a lonely mountain and a cloud", hence the name. Architecture is to make foreign things serve China, and the name is "China serves foreign things", which is really a combination of Chinese and western.
Overlooking the West Lake from the lonely Yuncao House
Gushan Grass House was built in 19 12, facing south, surrounded by Jinghu Hall, Zhaoxian Hall, Qiushui Mountain Villa, Linshe, Governing the Country Hall and Empty Valley. The building covers an area of 2.665 mu, with a building area of 1 148 square meters. The former owner of this house was Liu Tiqing, a wealthy businessman in Nanxun. He is the third son of Liu Yong, the leader of the "Four Elephants" in Nanxun, and is famous for "speculating" Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai real estate.
At that time, dignitaries built houses around the West Lake, especially at the foot of Geling Mountain and Beishan Street in Lixi Lake. Among them, Green Soft Lake House, Liu Yu Caotang, Yujian Villa and Lonely Yuncao House were established by Xing Wu Trainers. Later, based in Shanghai, Liu Tiqing lent the lonely cloud hut to fellow countryman Zhu Jiahua for use.
/kloc-in the winter of 0/936, Zhu Jiahua was transferred as the chairman of the Zhejiang provincial government and presided over the work of the Zhejiang government. The lonely cloud hut near the mountain and lake became the official residence of the chairman, and the traffic was busy, losing the tranquility of the past. 1937, 165438+ 10, Zhu Jiahua, chairman of Zhejiang province, was fidgeting, and Chiang Kai-shek asked him to scorch the earth before the Japanese army occupied Hangzhou. Just like Yue Fei, a famous star in the Southern Song Dynasty, he also won three "gold medals": burst its banks, bombed bridges and burned Hangzhou. Destroying the city before the arrival of the enemy is a trivial matter, and it is the safety of the people that matters. Moreover, how can the imperial city in the Southern Song Dynasty be enlarged? Zhu Jiahua hesitated for nearly 40 days and transported hundreds of thousands of people and thousands of train materials out of the city, leaving an empty city for the Japanese.
In a rage, Chiang Kai-shek dismissed Zhu Jiahua. Mr. Zhu and his party simply walked out of the lonely cloud grass house. He breathed a sigh of relief when he took a last look at the West Lake. Zhu Jiahua's decision at that time was the luck of Hangzhou and the people.
Ancient Caoyunshe boundary tablet
After the founding of New China, the two adjacent tall buildings, Gu Yun Caotang and Xinxin Hotel, became brothers. However, with the passage of time, the lonely cloud grass house was gradually forgotten by people. Later, the building lost its name. It was not until the mid-1990s that the landmark "Lonely Cloud Grass House" engraved with its "birth certificate" was discovered, and this building that stood in the West Lake for more than a hundred years returned to people's sight.
